<snip>
Inauguration Day meeting of GOP lawmakers, along with pollster Frank Luntz and former Speaker Newt Gingrich, detailed in Robert Drapers Do Not Ask What Good We Do. Liberal radio and TV host Thom Hartmann makes the case that the Republicans (and Fox News, by virtue of Luntzs involvement) are guilty of treason, or sedition, or whatever it was, and makes a nice smoking-gun catch from Fridays Real Time with Bill Maher.
In his book Do Not Ask What Good We Do, author Robert Draper details a meeting which took place the night of President Obamas inauguration, in which Republican Congressional leaders made a pact to show united and unyielding opposition to the presidents economic policies in order to regain power, and eventually take the White House in 2012. The facts surrounding this meeting are not in doubt; former House Speaker Newt Gingrich says he was glad and honored to be part of it.

they conspired to block everything. If you need a smoking gun, check their record, since that meeting, of voting against things that were their own ideas just because President Obama decided to support them. Whether this amounts to treason or sedition, as Thom Hartmann suggests, is a matter of semantics that are, Im sure, intended to be provocative (remember how Rick Perrys invocation of the crime set off the outrage grenades).
<snip>
Can you imagine if, on September 12, 2001, a group of Democrats got together to plot blocking all of George W. Bushs policies, no matter what they were?
<snip>
On Fridays Real Time with Bill Maher, Dougherty revealed that a Republican Senator, not a staffer, not a strategist, but an actual US Senator, told him that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had issued sickening marching orders to his caucus. Heres what Dougherty said: I spoke to a Senator earlier this week, and he told me that, a Republican Senator told me that Mitch McConnell has told his conference that Were not doing anything, we wont make a single move between now and the election, because any move could be risky, and all of the shit is sliding down on President Obama.
<snip>
The Republicans arent going to make a single move between now and the election, because anything they do carries with it the risk that the economy improves.
Is that treason?

(51,666 posts)have said they hate the majority of Americans (all liberals, all women, and all brown people) and wish them dead (at one time or another).
If that's not treason, I don't know what is.
Now watch the RW water carriers jump all over me for saying this.

(20,600 posts)the republicans have been undermining the country for a long time, all they care about is the top 5-10%, the whole country is expendable for their goal of keeping the wealthy folks living the high life.

(53,661 posts)We know who they want to impeach. As far as legally going after this cabal of economic traitors, as Perot would name them most likely... Who can do it?
They are the termites eating the house down from the ground up and now they're near the roof. Any legal persons here who could figure this one out?
This is the full video which I will listen to and look for some Constitutional law mentioned. I believe this is part of the Koch brothers doing, with their secret meetings across the country, too.

(4,033 posts)every republican who has taken an oath to Grover Norquist, who has stated that they are against any bill submitted by the President, who has not voted for or submitted any bill(s) for economic growth and stability, should be arrested. They should be charged with treason and conspiracy to commit treason. I think that "force" does not necessarily mean "armed force", but the repugs use "refusal" as their show of force.

(5,105 posts)their obstructions of EVERY effort Obama has made are plain for anyone to see. Of course they deny this, for they are assholes, more concerned about elections than the American people. Yes, that is treason.

(1,362 posts)We're told to forget about ever holding them responsible. I agree that conspiring to ruin the U.S. economy is treason but it has no meaning whatsoever if that treason will never be recognized by a "treasonous" Justice Department or, dare I say, a president who refused to investigate and prosecute as well.
Simply put, our criminal govt allows traitors to commit treason and that in itself is treason. Sorry, but there is no other way to view those whom enable traitors.
