The Kansas City Council unanimously approved a resolution Thursday opposing the Supreme Courts Citizens United ruling of 2010, which opened the door to Super PACS and unlimited corporate contributions to political campaigns.
The City Council joins others across the country that are weighing in on the ruling.
Mary Lindsay, spokeswoman for the Kansas City affiliate to the Move To Amend movement, said the court ruling gives deep-pocket corporations undue influence over elections and compromises the political process.
The Move To Amend groups are calling for a constitutional amendment to curb corporate influence over elections.

(45,358 posts)That's about as specific as I want to get online.
Well, I guess I can say I'm very near a structure that is an Eye-full, if that makes sense.

(45,358 posts)BTW, what's up with the police 'tude here? It's the only thing that bugs me.
Every time I've asked a question (usually based on road-blocks, which seem to happen pretty often) I get nothing but rude, dismissive responses. I always ask politely.

(96,793 posts)the KCMO cops are the best. Suburban cops here SUCK. Racial profiling is a huge problem. And bi-state crap. Be prepared to be pulled over if you have MO plates in Johnson County and you go a mile over the speed limit. If you're brown skinned, have bail money.
The roadblocks are due to all the marathons, especially this time of year.

(45,358 posts)Yea, I watched a marathon out my window last weekend. It was so cool! Even though it took me 15 minutes to find an alternate route to my place.
That was one of the rude instances I was talking about. I asked, "What's the best way to get back to my house?" and the cop said, "You back your ass up, park on the street and walk to your house". It kind of stunned me.

I think the tower looks really cool, especially at night, and it makes lightning storms VERY loud and intense.
