Shame on Ireland, and shame on that bloated icon of misogyny, the catholic church (caps left off intentionally)

Of COURSE women are just lining up for their c-sections, 'cause that's a GREAT method of family planning.

(2,132 posts)I had pain in that region during one of my pregnancies, due to my daughter's head being in a bad position (her hand was on her cheek, with the cord wrapped around her neck and wrist).
I could not walk without pain for about three months, and there were days when I couldn't walk at all. I literally had to crawl from my bed to the bathroom, because my pelvis couldn't support my weight.
To discover that any doctor would deliberately cause such a horrific injury simply to avoid a cesarean makes me absolutely ill. I was lucky enough to recover after my daughter was born, since the cartilage was only stretched, not severed. I can only imagine the pain that the effects of that operation must cause those women on a daily basis.

(5,762 posts)What is important is that contraception is not being used and that "church" policy is being followed to the letter.
If you are in too much pain to endure intercourse, then there is no danger of birth control.

(2,132 posts)The "church" needs to be destroyed.
Doesn't it matter to them that they wouldn't exist without women?

(2,132 posts)(or mormon) all of the time, since I have a large family. I really have to bite my tongue to keep from saying something cruel, because I know the people asking usually belong to one of those two religions. I try not to be mean, but honestly, I did not have my children because of religion. I feel sorry for people who feel pressured or forced to have children they may not have wanted to have just because their religion mandates it.
I also have to be careful not to say that I'm just overly fertile and really enjoy sex.

(2,132 posts)This was probably a necessary procedure in extremely rare cases, particularly breech births or in other cases when the baby was not presenting in a normal position. But cesareans have been considered to be relatively safe for many decades now, and for doctors to continue this procedure simply to preserve the uterus for more babies is absolutely wrong.
I definitely agree that this is barbaric.

Barbarism barely describes this.

(5,762 posts)There is rather a long line to get into the Irish gaols. Oh, and the nuns who ran the "homes" for unwed mothers. Them, too.
Unfortunately, I cannot seem to get the Irish judicial system to agree with me.
