iPad2 users: is there any fix for the constant reloading of web pages?

I don't even bother to log into DU on my iPad anymore!

The admins added yet another line of those gawd-awful taboola ads (it is beginning to look like Times Square up in here), and I find myself clicking on them by accident, due to a little lag, while I am scrolling down. Then my iPad acts like it is traversing through a pond of molasses!

I wish I had never updated the OS.

Don't forget to close out the windows you're not using anymore.

Closed tabs, shut-down/deleted apps, cleared cache, manipulated some of my settings, restarted... you name it, I've done it (with the exception of a total restore).

I think I am just SOL.

13. I've not had that issue w/DU if I open in a new tab. If I touch the link, read, and then ...

... swipe right to return to the original page, it reloads the page & ads. That's why I read thread on DU in a new tab, and then close them when I'm done.

Cheers.

5. It wouldn't make a difference, this is an OS problem.

Though, it is compounded by ad heavy sites (not limited to DU).

When the page reloads, I get logged off DU. In essence, I would have to log-in constantly when using my iPad.

BTW, I do not see those particular ads on my desktop (I see none, actually, due to adblockers) or when I am logged in on my iPad.

Thank you, though.

Turn "do not track" off

Alas.

I had to call AppleCare and this is what worked.

The first thing I do with any device is to look at the privacy settings.

11. You prefer to run it with privacy off?

Glad to hear it...I've been feeling not so great about having it off for the first time ever to solve this problem. Got super tired of having to log in every time I wondered what was up on DU, and everywhere else.

Good luck!

14. Roger that, thought that might be so. According to Apple care this is the fix.

I suppose it's still a choice...argh!

15. But you still have to log in every time you come to the page, or apparently, give up "no not track"

YMMV

6. I would try some other browsers.

I like Opera Coast (free) for simple browsing (although it does have some reloading / crashing issues). It is gesture based, so it's worth a look just for the unique interface.

For your issue, I'd suggest trying iCab Mobile ($1.99) - it has URL filtering that can block troublesome ad servers that cause most of those reloading issues.

I'm still on iOS8, if you're running iOS9 - your experience may differ. I know a few people that think iOS9 doesn't quite seem to work with the old iPad2 devices. Maybe try Googling to see what settings can be tweaked to get it to run better for you (for example).

OFF TOPIC: I also recommend checking out the MyScript Stylus handwriting keyboard (free) if you'd rather write stuff instead of typing on a virtual keyboard.

9. Yes, I am running iOS9(something). I have a notification to update to 9.3.5 (not gonna happen).

The problems occurred when I updated from iOS8 to iOS9.

Also, I have tried all those things that you linked to (besides Siri, which isn't applicable).

I will look into the other things you mentioned. Thank you!
