The media is irresponsible and corrupt for failing to challenge Trump on his racially hateful rhetoric. The are complicit in his incitement of violence. By giving him a free pass on his viciousness and treating him as legitimate is enabling white supremacists and others to attack minorities.
They are directly responsible for some recent deaths in that their permission is emboldening racists to attack minorities. Making racism and violence ok is virtually criminal

(20,568 posts)treating racism and bigotry as an acceptable opinion for a presidential candidate is not OK.
When George Wallace ran for president he was treated as the racist he was by the media. trump is George Wallace but he is treated like he is normal. The resulting acts of hatred, which include killings, by his followers is in the lap of trump and the media.

And then just to the side of that awful Trump article, was an article headlining that a California Democratic candidate (Loretta Sanchez) was pandering to the right.

The Times is making this election sound like it's all GOPwhen it's just the opposite. Yeah, maybe the articles read differently, but the headlines say a lot.
The L.A. Times is so money oriented, that it turns my stomach. They have turned that paper into an ad based circus. And that leads me to believe that the news content is also money based.

(196 posts)I tend to agree with Michael Moore that Trump entered into this on a lark, adlibbed his first speech in which he referred to Mexicans as "criminals and rapists" and then the whole thing took an unexpected turn with him actually winning the primary.
Shameless and opportunistic and immoral...of course. But deliberated and calculated? I don't think he's that smart.

"Early Saturday morning, Deborah Pearl, a 53-year-old African-American mother and employee of a Cleveland area Harley Davidson Diner in Northeast Ohio, was on her to way work.
At 7:20 a.m., as she was driving her Ford Taurus, she had no idea that she was living her very last moments on this Earth. Matthew Ryan Desha, a 29-year-old white man, ran a red light at an intersection and hit Pearl's car with his Jeep.
After his car flipped many times and hers was pushed into the intersection, what happened next was like something out of a horror movie.
As Deborah Pearl got out of her car to assess the situation, Matthew Desha did as well. Except he also grabbed his 5.56-millimeter high powered assault rifle. According to witnesses, Pearl then proceeded to put her hands in the air in attempt to save her life from the armed stranger who had narrowly avoided killing them both in the crash just seconds earlier."
