September 2, 2016 / John Pavlovitz
Man, these Summers fly by, dont they?
A while ago I wrote a letter to your father. Im not sure whether he mentioned it or not. He never did reply, so maybe it got lost in the mail somewhere.
Actually it wasnt all that long agonot nearly long enough in fact, and thats the problem. It was in June, and he had just pleaded on your behalf for leniency from the judge, for raping a young woman. To say you received it, is the greatest understatement on the planet.
And here it is, just shy of Labor Day and youre out. In the span of a single Summer youve apparently paid your debt and earned your freedom.
After three months of good behavior, you now get to leave prison.
Its too bad that the young woman you raped is already serving a life sentence. She doesnt get a reward for good behavior. She doesnt get to have her slate wiped clean. She doesnt get to walk away and leave this all behind. She gets more of the same.
I bet shed had a dreadful Summer. I imagine whatever pain she was in yesterdayis still there today and will likely be there tomorrow. Whatever bars are around her heart, arent as easy to escape as yours have been.

These agencies and ministries are doing advocacy work for victims of rape, incest, and sexual abuse. Encourage them with presence, with social media shares, and with dollars. Let survivors know the army of people who stand with them.

There goes any meaningful career, buddy. Should of thought about that before you made that woman's life a living hell.

(14 posts)Just so we are crystal clear msongs I never "stated" I was in favor of prison rape. It is however a fact that people who's action causes them to go to prison for the rape of others who can't defend themselves like a defenseless young lady are the most despised.
And as a consequence they will have problems that a drug dealer would not have. Don't add "your thinking" to my post that is not there.

(36,437 posts)You actually don't know what "karma" means. In any case, I see you're a new poster, so, just to let you know, celebrating, approving of, or winking at RAPE is not acceptable on these forums. They can get your post hidden.
Wait, wait. I know. You're not "approving of it," that's just "what happens." Yes, well, that old hedge is considered flimsy and will also get your post hidden, and for good reason: it is a despicable and cowardly defense of RAPE.
Ethical people don't distinguish between rape and prison rape. They are all the same, of a piece.

(80,708 posts)If I had my way, he would be treated humanely but serve a real long-ass sentence, with plenty of boring time to stare at walls and consider his life choices.
Instead, we let people like him out in a few months to make more room for folks doing 5 years for pot smoking.
Who else in here is a pot head?

Do you believe in rape as punishment? If you do, you're a terrible person.

(14 posts)What are you talking about a_m?
Everyone is responsible their own actions, he put himself in the position to be violated by "his actions' of violating that young lady.
He created everything that is happening to him right now.
I'm not a terrible person, and to answer your question, I do not believe in rape as punishment. I think he should have had his ass kicked though.
