Niihau owners looking to preserve 21,000 acres of ag lands on Kauai

The Hawaii Land Use Commission could make a decision next week to change the designation for nearly 21,000 acres of agriculture-zoned lands on the island of Kauai owned by Robertson Family Partners to one that protects the land from development and instead promotes agricultural use.

The Robinson family, which owns the island of Niihau just east of Kauai, is also a major landowner on the Garden Isle, mainly on the island’s west side.
