Anyone here receive a 'polling' call from, or know about a group called 'Informed Electorate'?

They called me a couple of times, just this week, and I answered one or two questions. They claim to be a non-partisan PAC.

Today they called AGAIN today and this time they want me to send them $20.

That is pretty much an automatic red flag, for me. Especially when no matter what I say, they just keep asking for the money.

So, just curious if anyone has heard of, and know anything about this group.

I'd tell him to fuck off. If he calls back tell him you have a tire iron and know how to inflict the maximum damage with minimal effort.

They guy was definitely reading from a script and he wasn't going to stop reciting until I promised I'd send some money.

I did tell him, without specifics, that I am very politically active and have a wide political network so I will make it a point to 'vet' the organization. I finally had to hang up on him, mid-money plea.

Under the assumption no one is who they say they are. I started this several years ago when I agreed to someone calling to ask me to participate in a poll that would "only take a few minutes" . We were only into it for a few questions when it was obvious they were trying to set me up for the sale of a water softening system. Since then when anyone calls who sounds like a telemarketer (or any robocalls) I just lay the phone down and let them hang up when they are ready, knowing time is money to them.

I had one of those 'do you have a time for a short survey' calls, before, about whether or not to build a new bridge from Detroit to Windsor, Ontario. They would ask the same question several times, but changing the wording. It was as if they were determined to get the answer they wanted.

I eventually figured out it was being conducted by the multi millionaire who stood to make lots of money from building a new bridge.

When they finally got to the part where they wanted some personal/demographic information, I hung up, so I pretty much wasted their valuable time.

Now i take them and have my say. I got one the other day that was clearly a trolling call for a Repub state senator.

She's not one of the crazies, and she hasn't been there long enough to do any damage (even with Rauner in the Governor's Mansion)

But, the questions all leading to the great things she would do if re-elected and it was the same tired "cut taxes", "promote business", "create jobs", "improve education", "improve infrastructure" stuff. Well, first they all want to do that, so the difference is in how they plan to do it. If cutting taxes on the rich and business is your plan, then you lost me, because we've been hearing that tired saw for more than 30 years. Hasn't worked yet.
