Lauer to Trump: "Nobody would expect you" to have researched deeply into foreign policy issues. Nobody? Before *running for president*?

Can someone explain to me why Matt Lauer, who has no background in national security, is moderating a town hall focused on national security?
Greg Pinelo ?@gregpinelo
Maybe the same guy who narrates the Thanksgiving Day parade is not the best choice to pin Trump down on foreign policy.
...viewers were royally played by these privileged fools. Fortunately, their dog and pony show is transparent and wearing thin with more than a few actual reporters and responsible public officials. Lots of pushback out there today.

(59,574 posts)Like we would expect ANYONE running for president to have "researched deeply into foreign policy issues."
Lauer is every bit the pathetic little whore I expected him to be.

(42,515 posts)Plenty of time to do lots of research on everything you should know for the really important job you claim to want.

(32,074 posts)Nobody did expect the vulgar talking yam to do his homework. We all knew he'd try to bullshit his way through this thing, rather than put any effort into research. Well, nobody other than the suckers who think this asshole is even remotely qualified to be President of the United States.

(38,414 posts)good...focuses on media's special treatment of Trump....so..........
Lauer proves how the media provides special treatment of Trump with this question
shows everyone the real truth about the media..
I'm so glad he'll never live this down

(38,414 posts)after hesitation, Palin says, "all of them"..
Katie Couric defined her, and she defined herself...couldn't name one, ..so she said, "all of them" ..(an incredible and obvious lie)
In a similar way..explaining openly to all, ...why the media goes easy on Trump..defines the media..., and defines this person...it may even force others to be more forceful with Trump in telling the truth..
If that happens, then this has been a very good moment...odd..maybe the debates will indeed focus on the lies and inconsistencies of Trump.. If that happens, then this has been a very good moment in this election cycle.

(6,926 posts)this voter would expect any serious candidate would have done a great deal of research on this and many other topics.
Or maybe he meant that no one would expect a pompous ass like Trump would have done it, I may have misunderstood Lauer....or not.

(43,153 posts)Perhaps they thought he'd have some additional insight into him.
Although it was awkward when he announced in the middle of the forum, "And next up we have everybody's favorite lasagna loving cat.....Garfield!"

(56,828 posts)or with North Korea, with Russia and Ukraine, we're going to ask them to put the crisis on hold so Trump can research the issue?

(4,033 posts)(Remember our current crop of generals have been reduced to "rubble" And give them 30 days to come up with a plan. A good plan. A really good plan. Because he's heard that good military men can plan wars and stuff. And if they came up with a plan like his secret (read unpredictable) plan, or even if they didn't, and they came up with something he liked. Then that would be his plan. See? You don't really need to know foreign policy.
Remember, Trump has already said he would get 'other people' to do the parts of being President that he didn't want to do.
