(18,184 posts)It's interesting that Munro is standing there nonchalantly, hands in pockets, as though he's just going for a casual stroll. It's a strange pose for a so-called reporter.
IMO he intended to heckle from the start and had obviously rehearsed his line. Otherwise where is his reporter's notebook?

That postimage.org site seems to insert a 9-byte random code in their URL's to prevent hotlinking (or maybe it's for tracking), so the link you used probably only works on your computer.
I uploaded a slightly cropped, slightly downsized jpg version (your original png was an uncourteously large filesize [over 1.1Mb]) to imgur.com (it's free, no account required).

Leopolds Ghost
(12,875 posts)They have no registration, but the uploader can delete via hotlink and re-upload with no hassle.
Make7
(8,543 posts)The nine character code in the URL of the actual image I was viewing was different than the one in ghurley's post. Apparently a hotlinkable version is:
http://s15.postimage.org/iwpul9mnf/hitlarspeech.jpg
Which has yet another nine character code. I don't know what exactly they are doing with those nine characters, so I just figured it would be easier to upload it to another image host... but apparently I was mistaken - all I had to do was allow scripts on PostImage to get the hotlink URL - now I know. Thanks.

Download the blank I provided, open it with the program. Copy it into it's internal buffers and then open the picture you want to put him in and paste as a new layer. You can move that layer, flip it, resize it, change the color,...etc. Then save the result and add the captions. It's a lot easier than some games out there.

Though Republicans would take it the wrong way. They are huge cry-babies, and, as usual, project their cry-baby attitudes on those who oppose them. They can't take criticism in the gut.
That's something Republicans can't do - is take criticism as dictated by Ronald Reagan, but it has always been true of them since our country's inception. They don't realize it makes them look like rigid, uncompromising idealouges.
Oh wait, they do, and think it is a virtue
Bunch of spoiled brats, even when they are impoverished because they are too dumb to have empathy and realize why the world is kicking them.

(32,723 posts)I saw the posts reacting to this guy disrespecting the President were full of anger. It was one of the main reasons I went from being a long time lurker to an actual user here because posts like that only served to tell the Right Wing that they were having the desired effect. The more we railed about it, the more they laughed at our "whining" and the more they elevated this guy's celebrity in their own circles.
What needed to happen was to make this guy an embarrassment to not only them but to the very concept of professional journalism.
Liberals are at their best when they attack with humor because the Right Wing has no sense of humor.
After Wisconsin the folks here were down and needed to be reminded of that.
Speaking of Wisconsin, with all of the "You lost!" coming from the Right did anyone notice we took the state senate? Walker is not only crippled but he's more likely to face charges if he's still in office.

What needed to happen was to make this guy an embarrassment to not only them but to the very concept of professional journalism.
Which Obama also did by refusing to take any additional questions once he was done: the military "if ONE of you has screwed up, then ALL OF YOU have screwed up" principal. Think of all the "evil eyes" Munro must have gotten after that -- even Fox News had to dump on him!
Liberals are at their best when they attack with humor because the Right Wing has no sense of humor.
Click here if you are not familiar with DUer Plaid Adder's superb post on the subject:
...(W)hy is it that so much right-wing political humor just plain doesn't work -- even for its target audience?...I think..(it)...has to do with the basic conflict between comedy and authority...(D)isrespect for authority is the foundation of real comedy...
Mocking the powerful has the positive effect of reminding everyone that though these figures may be powerful, they are not superhuman, and can be resisted/outwitted/defied; it also has the therapeutic effect of validating the anger and pain we feel as we suffer for these people, and reminding us that in fact, it's not us, it's them.
Mocking the vulnerable is just bullying, and all it does is pander to the audience's worst instincts. Right-wing pundits in the main either don't understand this rule, or have a seriously warped understanding of who's vulnerable and who's powerful...
Munro may have thought he was "defying and outwitting the powerful" by condemning the executive order before Obama was done explaining it. But in a textbook example of "seriously warped understanding," Munro ended up "mocking the vulnerable" by accusing Obama of issuing an order that made its recipients "more powerful" than "real" Americans.
This thread has thrived because it strangles Munro on his own rhetoric: you can thrust his arrogant posturing and obnoxious attitude into ANY situation (even the very birth of the universe!) -- and he comes across not as a passionate, professional truth-seeker, but as a self-serving, partisan, overgrown frat brat!

I too noticed we took the state senate in Wisconsin, and it delights me. In addition to reelecting the President, we need to take the Senate and the House in November. We don't always get everything we want. Neither do republicans. We should acknowledge & celebrate our victories.

There's a blog for Interrupting Neil Munro on Tumblr.
It's called Neil Munro Interrupts (Fuck No Neil Munro)
It's not a single-author account, it's set up as a single pseudonymous user.
Once posted, anyone on the site can reblog it to whomever, like on Twitter.
1. Site access to anyone who wants to help upload the 180 (so far) pics, or Spitfire of course
2. Let us know if you don't want your image reblogged, or if it came from another site so we can credit the source
3. Images are posted oldest = first, so people have a better sense of what this is about. For info, see here

They include captions like "Marissa Miller leaves the door open for the one and only Neil Munro."
Yet another fine example of the cluelessness of the Right Wing, AND the abject STUPIDITY considering they took a single image of him from that day when they could have had him pose to fit the individual scenes since he's right there in the office!!!

I'm Saving all the earliest and also most of the funniest pics to be uploaded last -- I'll try and finish tonight.
(Tumblr posts in reverse chronological order -- AAARGH -- so if I posted the originals first, they'd get buried).
I can move an individual post to the top once it's posted, however. I just can't reorder them all back to front.
So I'm uploading them in reverse order so they will appear chronologically.
The original three posts, including a video, explain the Neil Interrupts thing to persons unfamiliar with the origins of this meme.
Should I bump the original three posts to the top now? Also, check out the improved page formatting and let me know what you think.

Of course this means that as older entries get posted, newer entries are buried and unseen. I may not be spending much time here in the near future (except maybe Occu-forum) because I am intensely unhappy about the individual mandate (which I regard as unconstitutional -- and personally affects me.) I don't much like hanging out in a group where people are called "deadbeats" and "selfish" and insist that people (not the people who passed the law, or the people advocating for it) pay a fine for not having access to what they take for granted... but I will stay reachable on the "other" DU (see sig link) because of my commitment to folks there and I will commit to putting up the remainder of the pics but I don't know really how much response the Tumblr will get. I know a bunch of people responded to my poll saying they would reblog it but I don't know how many people who contributed to this thread clicked the link. I doubt many did
