Horse shooter enters guilty plea

?resize=630%2C420

Police have been looking for a suspect since the horse was shot to death with a "long gun" at the end of December last year. Police say between 12:30 and 12:40 p.m. on Dec. 29, witnesses reported seeing a man driving a gray Dodge Avenger stop his car near a horse farm on Kirkland Avenue, pull out a "long gun" and shoot a horse, according to the Kirkland Police Department.

Police say the driver then left the scene, driving on the wrong side of the road. Paige Pavlot was out of town when she heard the horrific news, her beloved horse, Jak was gunned down. "I wake up in the morning and I'm like somebody shot my horse. And then I get here to see the other two girls (horses) calling for him; it's very sad. And then it really does start to sink in. Somebody shot my horse, he's dead. I'm never going to see him again," says Pavlot.

43-year-old Robert Webster Jr. of Durhamville was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, aggravated cruelty to animals and reckless endangerment after a lengthy investigation by Kirkland Police. Police credited numerous leads by the public for having helped them with the investigation.

Webster has agreed to a plea deal and has plead guilty to second degree criminal mischief. Webster will pay restitution and be sentenced to serve a term in the New York prison system. Sentencing is scheduled for October, and he is expected to get between 1 and 4 years in prison.

Maybe someday while this guy is just minding his own business, someone in a car will drive up
and shoot him with a long gun.
