in the NYC metro region.

Heat and dryness is OK, but heat and humidity is a total bummer.

It's not just the heat, it's the humidity. I was at an all day party yesterday at an unairconditioned home. It was almost intolerable, & I was sitting in the shade under a fan. Many people, including almost everyone over 60, left early because they couldn't tolerate the heat. The Donald wouldn't have made it for 10 minutes out in that sun.

since late last week along the I-95 corridor. They just dropped our heat advisory here in Philly last night. There is a front coming through now that is starting to drop the dewpoints and it is probably finally reaching NYC...

In the congested cities like NYC and here, the density of the stone, brick, and masonry buildings, concrete/cement sidewalks and other objects, plus miles and miles of asphalt streets, make it a literal furnace when you are in the central parts of these cities during and just after heat waves... and the temps are usually higher in those locations than the airports where the "official" temps are taken.

While the temperature is not abnormally high, the humidity is. Waking around yesterday, in just shorts and a T shirt, I felt as if I couldn't breathe sometimes.
