1) *NO* denying: "O.K., she's got pneumonia plus 30 years of non-stop stress."
2) She needs some TIME f-ing OFF, & leave her ALONE!1
3) "Surrogates" are what f-ing SURROGATES are *for*: Like, taking up the slack.
And I'm looking at YOU: Tim KAINE, Joe BIDEN, whomever and whomever (ON EDIT: & epecially YOU/Chelsea, NOW is your MOMENT!1). Get your asses out there. Period. And SAY IT, "She's recuperating and I'm here to PICK UP THE F-ING SLACK, got a problem with that?!1"
And that include us...
We *ALL* need to step up now...

Take Jennifer Granholms statement and stick to it. Women and especially Mothers, get sick every day and push through. Women soldier on when they are at their breaking point.

(26,403 posts)I'm a father with a wife who has a chronic illness. I soldier thru many things for the kids.
It's a function of being middle (albeit upper) class. I do not live with the silver spoon Drumpf has and i do not fantasize about some impossible future (like many of Drumpf's people do) where magic will happen where they win the golden lottery.
So, I do work 20+ hour days between work and the kids. And yes, I do recognize many women do the same and do so unsung. Just that they are not necessarily alone.
Minor complaint - though the thesis you are showing is correct if you say that the little person often has to push thru in these types of things. I can see many parents who work two jobs coming in sick to just keep their minimum wage pay together.

(19,497 posts)That just screams, "She's too worn out. She can't handle anymore stress."
UTUSN
(70,681 posts)1) Your "negative spin" - uh, what is negative about a SOLUTION? The "she's worn out" thing is YOUR projection.
2) She's got a physical, medical, biological diagnosis. What is YOUR diagnosis?
3) Again, your "can't handle anymore (sic) stress" is your projection. Medical/biological things are what they are, not your projection.
4) Let's see, what can I *imagine* what your assessment and "solution" is - Would it be, TROT her out there despite any infirmity and WORK HER TO THE BONE until she drops dead on a podium?
Really, what do YOU suggest? (Notice I'm not adding sarcastic exclamation and #1 symbols, I really really want to know what your constructive input is.)
Nuclear Unicorn
(19,497 posts)I won't argue for it because I have no desire to do so. I'm just saying if the other side is looking for talking points your post gives it to them.
Don't present any problem as a problem built upon long term conditions, particularly if the conditions will only be exacerbated by the job being sought.
Temporary problem from temporary conditions. The less said, the better.
UTUSN
(70,681 posts)It aint' my post that helps the other (from my) side, it's yours.
"job being sought" sounds like YOU are saying she's not up to it. Pneumonia ain't a permanent.
"The less said, " - who do you think is going to be saying LESS, certainly not the wingnuts.
If you find arguing with me to be a Democratic thing to do, you're wrong.

Nuclear Unicorn
(19,497 posts)The GOP is looking for an excuse to claim HRC is not fit for the job. Your OP says this episode is the result of 30 years stress. If YOU are claiming 30 years of stress can debilitate her then it becomes hard to believe that another 4 to 8 years at a far more stressful job will improve matters.
Again, it is you, not me, in your first talking point claiming this is from 30 years of stress.
But, hey, you're convinced in the superiority of your argument to the point of not being able to accept advice. If you want to scream from the rooftop that this is 30 years of stress please proceed. I'd be interested in your audience's reaction.

(19,497 posts)Your point 4 in post 10 just doubles down on making her look infirm. You should quit while you're behind.

Your only thrust was to make a personal attack/accusation that I was all "negative spin" and helping the wingnuts. Looking back, I see that you're hung-up on the "30 years of stress" part. Uh, the current, temporary, recoverable physical/medical/biological condition preyed on the wear and tear. NOT taking a remedial break of a week is not a solution (you never put forth how to fix anything). My point of carrying out a medical care plan, supported by people taking up the slack, IS a positive solution. Your focus is on "damage control," which amounts to covering-up/denying and making the temporary condition into a permanently deterioration. But proceed with pretending to yourself that we are actually "discussing" stuff while all you're doing is personally attacking/accusing.

(70,681 posts)My definition would be if you would fire off one of your puns at one of my flamers (above), instead of giving them aid and comfort. I never go to the Vets group. It was in Lounge.
Notice the difference: I busted a gut at your Lounge thread about the neighbor/downstairs. That's what support is.
ON EDIT: here, for the benefit of others knowing what the * we're talking about:

(1,306 posts)Whether she is physically depleted or not, it's time to order the troops to charge ahead.
She has tons of ammunition -- let's use it already!
She has tons of money -- let's spend it already!
She has tons of allies -- let them loose already!
Direct-to-the-voter attack ads and "events" are required in every state that is contested.
The media is already pushing the narrative that all Trump needs to do to succeed
in the debates and to appear qualified is... to not drool on himself. (Deja vu to Bush vs
Gore prior to their debates) Her advantage is already being undermined by a gutless and
biased news media.
