I had not heard a word about him since the day he resigned from the Trump campaign?
But, like Roger Ailes, is he lingering in the shadows, working to elect Mr. Trump the next President of the United States?
Also, how did Mr. Trump come to know Mr. Manafort? Who introduced them?
And one wonders if Mr. Manafort didn't help Mr. Trump with his contacts in Russia?
And Mr. Trump was able to borrow several hundred million dollars from the Russians. There is a reason he speaks so kindly toward Mr. Putin.

(1,907 posts)Flynn has russian ties, one of his economic advisors is very bullish on increasing economic ties to russia. Almost seems too obvious to point out boris. Then add who was at the rnc platform committee pushing for the changes to it? During the time they said there was around 100 lawyers/surrogates from dipshit's campaign group pushing for the changes. Some of the delegates even complained at the time they were being bullied in to adding the pro-russian parts of the platform. But I didn't see anywhere near enough payroll for that amount of people. If they weren't getting paid by them. Who was paying them? Lot of possible ties to russia.

More seriously, it could be a case of 'oligarchs of a feather flock together' ie: both Trump & Manafort already knew each other or had mutual friends among the current 'in' crowd of oligarchs in Russia & former Warsaw Pact countries.
Neither Trump nor Manafort seem to be friendly w/the exiled oligarchs (in London etc.)

(1,242 posts)Trump met Manafort and Stone through Roy Cohn ( Joe McCarthy 's lawyer )
"The genesis of Donald Trumps relationship with Paul Manafort begins with Roy Cohn. That Roy Cohn: Joe McCarthys heavy-lidded henchman, lawyer to the Genovese family. During the 70s, Trump and his father hired Cohn as their lawyer to defend the family against a housing discrimination suit. (Cohn accused the Feds of using Gestapo-like tactics.) But Cohn and Trump became genuine pals, lunching at the Four Seasons and clubbing together at Studio 54. It was Roy Cohn who introduced Stone and Manafort to Trump."
Manafort and Stone opened a lobbying firm in 1981 after Reagan was elected
" Over the course of their early years, they amassed a raft of blue-chip benefactors, including Salomon Brothers and Rupert Murdochs News Corp.
Another early client was Donald J. Trump. What Trump wanted was help fending off potential rivals to his Atlantic City casino business. He especially feared the rise of Indian gaming. As the 2016 campaign has graphically illustrated, Trump doesnt treat rivals gently. Testifying before a congressional committee in 1993, he began with his rote protestations of friendship. Nobody likes Indians as much as Donald Trump.
