California Double Rape, Murder Suspect (1973 case) Arrested In Oklahoma
CREEK COUNTY, Oklahoma - The Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force arrested a man in Creek County Tuesday in connection with the 1973 rape and murder of two teens in California.
The task force identified the man as Larry Don Patterson.
California law enforcement believes the girls, identified as Valarie Janice Lane and Doris Karen Derryberry, both 13, were driven to some woods near Marysville, which is north of Sacramento where they were shot at close range by a shotgun.
The two girls were described as the best of friends when they went missing after going on a weekend shopping trip.
