In a television appearance touting her fathers newly released maternity leave and child care plans, Ivanka Trump said that the Trump Organization provided all of its thousands of employees with paid maternity leave.
If it does, thats news to employees at many of the Trump Organizations hotels.
The Huffington Post on Wednesday morning checked the validity of Ivanka Trumps comments to ABC. Employees at the Trump SoHo, New York and Miami hotels, as well as the Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida, all said that they do not offer workers paid maternity leave. Instead, they said that the company complied with the Family and Medical Leave Act, a federal law that requires companies to give employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid time off for the adoption or birth of a child.
An undated employee handbook for the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, obtained by HuffPost, states that workers there are entitled to unpaid family leave, in accordance with the FMLA. The manual notes that employees must substitute their earned and unused vacation days and personal days for any otherwise unpaid FMLA leave. That is, if employees want paid maternity or paternity leave, they have to use other paid time off that theyve banked.

(40,200 posts)is also a big lie. A blind trust with his children running the businesses is another fraud. The entire Trump family are snake oil salesmen, including Ivanka.

(3,569 posts)She is the bright spot in the campaign. Guess lies, when told by a very attractive woman, are believable. Or more so. I've heard it all day from otherwise sane people who would fact check everything The Rump would say but are giving her a pass for now.

And they will spend a lot of time talking about how he did a good job raising her.

The contractor that designs Ivanka Trumps clothes does not offer a single day of paid maternity leave
By Danielle Paquette August 8
Ivanka Trump's speech to the RNC included a passage vouching for her father's support of woman in the workplace and maternal leave. (The Washington Post)
Editor's note: This story has been clarified to indicate that Ivanka Trump has no direct managerial role in G-III Apparel Group.
On the last day of the Republican National Convention in July, Ivanka Trump strode across the stage in a blush-toned dress from her namesake label. Then she shattered party norms, pledging that her father would revolutionize support for working mothers.
Policies that allow women with children to thrive should not be novelties, she declared. They should be the norm.
The eldest Trump daughter, 34, has built her personal brand around this cause, penning a book called Women Who Work and leading the family-friendly policy charge on Donald Trumps presidential campaign. Her own company, the Ivanka Trump brand -- a 12-employee business pitched as "the ultimate destination for Women Who Work" -- said it offers eight weeks of paid leave to new mothers and flexible work hours for parents.
But the contractor that designs her clothing line, including the $157 sheath she wore during her convention speech, does not offer workers a single day of paid maternity leave. Trump does not have managerial control over G-III and there is no public evidence that she advocated for paid maternity leave at that firm. Through a spokeswoman, Trump declined to comment for this story.

(1,907 posts)She said they have employed thousands of women. Okay think about what jobs he has at his resorts, golf clubs, casino, etc. Work for tips, work a minimum wage, work for free when he doesn't pay them and ships them back overseas.
