Republicans are becoming much more comfortable with Trump.

For a while, he looked like a sure loser. Now, he looks like he might have a chance. Republicans like winners. It really doesn't matter whether or not he is a conservative, so long as he can win.

They have been very lucky that they have Trump as their candidate. They can hide in the bushes and escape scrutiny until the presidential election is over. They do not want to make any waves. They like their chances of holding onto the Senate and keeping a good majority in the House.

And with all the attention on Trump and very little on their Party, they may pull it off. They may keep the Senate and the House?

Democrats have focused all their attention on the deplorable Trump and very little on the Republicans that have created this mess, including the mess called Donald Trump.

Trump is going to be Trump no matter what anyone says and his deplorable followers will continue to support him no matter what he says or does. The fertile ground for Democrats is in the US Senate and the House of Representatives.

Perhaps Democrats should concentrate more on the area that they can change? Are they devoting too much attention on the dumpster and too little on the trash?

2. If Trump wins then there's no way we're winning the House or the Senate.

The problem isn't that national Democrats are trying too hard to defeat Trump. It's that they're doing a terrible job of defeating Trump.

House races are a waste of time and resources at this point. Republicans are more than safe there.

Senate races, maybe.

But, Trump is in the process of taking the lead in the Presidential race.

All hands on deck for that, the rest is secondary.

That would be the final step in the destruction of our nation, in my opinion.

It's very hard to imagine a scenario where Republican candidates underperform him.

I may have to start thinking of myself as a future expat rather than as an American at this rate.

6. They're more comfortable with the polls not the candidate

They want to win at all costs and protect the down ballots and are willing to accept a horror show candidate of he wins or even appears to be winning. Once the polls change again, they will begin the distancing.

And 15% of them are going 3rd way with Stein. If the campaign and the rest of us can reach out to them, Hillary and congressional majorities would be assured.
