A lot of Hillary's ads focus on the possible negative outcomes of voting for Trump. Thom said today that Hillary has run very few--if any--ads focusing on what the positives are of voting for her. I hadn't thought about that before, but I'm not sure I've seen a Hillary ad that focuses on reasons to vote for her.

(413 posts)The positives Clinton offers should be obvious, especially to women and minorities as she is the only candidate interested in protecting their rights.

(82,383 posts)Whose vote would be affected by an ad. The strongest argument against Donald is how unprofessional, lacking in basic class and disgusting he is and how we would be ashamed before the world for having such a person in that office.

(42,641 posts)positive ads should also be aired.

(82,383 posts)you are letting the M$M worry you the way they want. A few outliers are harped on to make it look like a horse race.

(42,641 posts)And the close ones will be seized on by the media and used to promote the idea of a razor thin race. All to promote advertising in the same media.

(82,383 posts)they like to think they are "influential" and important. The "some people are saying" bullshit proves it.

(130,864 posts)but they're appealing only to a portion of the electorate. Need to put the positives in, so the 'persuadables' will have a reason to vote for her.

(5,737 posts)that she has been put through. So, Thom, how many explicit policy plans has Trump presented? He won't because he has none. HRC will start airing more explicit ads after the debates.

(27,801 posts)I'm going to take Thom Hartmann with a grain of salt here, because I don't think he "gets" Hillary Clinton at all, but I have seen positive ads. And, I think her strategy now is to get people aware of all the reasons that they should not vote for Trump - plant the seed, so to speak - and then do a blitz of positive ads in the last couple of weeks before the election.
I don't know if that's what will happen, but that that's what I think will happen.

(24,396 posts)If she was running only the positive ads, Thom Hartmann would be complaining that negative ads work better, and that she was missing the opportunity to use Trump's own words against him.

(15,429 posts)I've seen plenty of Hillary ads. Hell, go to her YouTube channel and you'll find all kinds of positive Hilary ads.
Most of the really anti-Trump ads come from SuperPACs.

Where is Thom listening to the ads, or is he listening to media sound bites?

(21,506 posts)He isn't looking for possitive Hillary adds.
Meanwhile, anyone flipping through the channels looking for positive ads about Donald Trump would be disappointed: He hasn't yet put up a spot appealing to November voters, and groups supporting him have been similarly silent.
