he played some of a phone conference held by a cbs exec. if i got it right he was talking to members of the board. it was all about the wildly high ratings that trump was bringing them this past year.

thom concluded by saying that at some point in the audio (he didn't play the whole thing when i could listen), the exec asserted that a trump win would bring them good ratings for years.

Let them rewrite the narrative... Rachel & Lawrence should be great tonight. Chris Matthews also: he's been railing against Trump for this for years...I want him to tear him apart like we've never seen...

I hope they're embarrassed and pissed that the Donald punked them and scored 20 minutes of free air time for an infomercial of his hotel. What did they expect from this con man? Suckers.

Once McCain said "fundamentals of economy are strong" and Romney said the 47% thing, they realized enough was enough (the last straw) and no use pretending either were credible candidates.

This may be the same kind of moment.

On EDIT: now I see Trump said this

“Hillary Clinton in her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy. I finished it. President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period. Now we all want to get back to making America strong and great again.”

So I'll add

McCain : fundamentals are strong
Romney : 47% of Americans are losers
Trump: HRC is a birther

I hope you are right, but this Trump circus has gone on unabated for nearly 18 months if you go back to his "will-he/won't-he" nonsense before the elevator ride of shame...

The mere fact that Trump can pull ANY support is baffling to me, but the fact that so many are willing to vote for a clearly unqualified person simply because of the (R) by his name on a ballot is far worse. If the Democratic Party were to nominate an overt racist on anything approaching the level of slime that is Trump, I would forgo the party until it returned to sanity and if it never did, I would lose no sleep over its demise.

This has gone on too long already...and I fully expect it to continue through the debates because the media whores need their ratings fix like a junkie needs heroin.

They still need the ratings. It'll be a few days of faux outrage on the Sunday gabfests and then they have to tilt the election back the other way and manufacture nonsense about Hillary. It's a winning formula for them.

Yours was very clear about what you were talking about. It's the ones that (with all caps no less) scream about something someone said on TV without telling us who the person was and what they were saying - basically freeking useless to anyone not sitting in front of the TV.

One of the reasons the media has treated Trump better than Hillary is because he does lots of press conferences and gives them access. They got more favorable to him when he stopped blacklisting them. They were pissy at Hillary for not doing press conferences and for her staff being more concerned with whether she was ok than keeping the press informed of her whereabouts on Sunday. So hopefully they will stay pissy at Trump for a while. Note that he has been getting bad coverage for hours over this but has still not apologized and put things to bed like most candidates would.
