Trump rally in Florida has a sailor with Trump sign standing behind him

I hope that guy is not active duty.

Active duty members may, however, express their personal opinions on political candidates
and issues, make monetary contributions to a political campaign or organization,
and attend political events as a spectator WHEN NOT IN UNIFORM.

You were definitely on track, but no way is Trump going to pay union wages for someone holding a sign.

If I weren't typing this on my phone at work, I'd post a video of "In the Navy"

Somebody here chewed me out a month or two ago, lecturing me that military people have a right to opinions and snarkily added that perhaps I didn't know that active military also VOTE.

That DUer didn't know I was active duty for four years (I don't expect him to). We had it drilled into us that we were supposed to stay off of politics in discussions, not just in public but also among ourselves, because it was a divisive topic in a setting when we needed every bit of unity among ourselves. Beyond that, it is a basic principle in civics that the military is supposed to belong to the whole country, is supposed to be above politics, and is subordinate to the Civilian powers that be.

Using military uniforms, insignia, and decorations to endorse political candidates is to demean what those things symbolize.

Back in Coup 200, the Shrub-CHEENEE flying monkeys put a dozen or so Medal of Honor recipients on the political stage in front of media cameras, wearing their medals and MoH caps. I contacted the MoH society to complain and got "crickets".
