I predict Hillary will ask Donald specific policy questions and he will not be able to answer in detail, and will show his lack of knowledge. For example, she could simply ask him what the name of a capital in the Middle East
I don't know how some of you don't want to watch this!

(11,256 posts)I have no doubt that the media will focus on her clothes, the number of times she coughs, the tone of her responses, and any facial expressions, eye rolls, etc.
Basically 2000 again with a fresh dash of sexism.
Standard D v R framing for any potus debate.

(26,355 posts)If Trump refrains from using racial slurs and pronounces the name of a foreign nation correctly, the media whores will nod approvingly and declare that he's won because he's Very Presidential.

(28,795 posts)media will swoon all over Trump, as they did for Dumbo #43, as long as he doesn't vomit over himself, or call Hillary the C word, declaring the OPTICS make him look as presidential as a combination of Mt. Rushmore effigies
yes......I'm very concerned
so sue me.
hoping that the self dealing foundation scandal has enough legs to make a difference in the next 6 days
the dems MUST talk about this to the EXCLUSION of everything else
meanwhile, CNN is TOTALLY fixated for the last half hour on terra terra terra/violence in the streets
not one WORD about the infinitely worse/real scandal he's propagated for what, thirty years, at least?

(1,124 posts)that Hillary gets under Trump's skin, has the most memorable one liner of all time and Trump goes off on a bigoted, misogynistic rant and people will see him for what he is. BTW by people I don't mean his adoring fans but the honest hard-working people that are on the fence and will be tuning in to make a decision.

Kinda like that guy Col. Jessup in that movie with Tom Hanks
I predict that we will hear curse words and spitting invectives on live TV that will make the audience gasp.
I further predict the FCC will require a 12 second delay so such behavior is not aired in the next debate

I think the American people are finally waking up to the fact that the media are a bunch of idiots who care only about ratings and promoting a "horse race".

this ''terrific guy'' is Jeffrey Epstein, named in the current lawsuit, and one of the truly LOATHSOME creeps to come along in recent memory:

I heard Lisa Bloom on Stephanie Miller this morning, discussing the rape case, and why it's not being reported ANYwhere in the M$M. why is that, I wonder?
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lisa-bloom/why-the-new-child-rape-ca_b_10619944.html
look who's covering it? no major outlets. the NY Daily News comes closest here:
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=trump+rape&tbm=nws
why do you think they refuse to even mention it? they came up with a pretty good answer on the radio this morning.
EDIT: I changed the title because I think the replacement is more specific to the case.especially since there's a witness; it seems to me that the media should at least announce the filing of the case. I has appeared NOWHERE in major markets, except the NY Daily News, and nobody pays attention to them. Please spread this around. I know Clinton has at least a tangential link to this

(28,795 posts)the big get will be the killer soundbite, ala Reagan/Carter or Reagan/Mondale
that's all the media really care about, and marketing ''geniuses'' behind trump, unfortunately, excel at this sort of Goebbellian krystallization of emotional thought process short-circuiting via emotional/authority-driven appeals
that's how marketing works, and they've been honing their weapons for decades
dems are sickeningly far behind, mainly because they have compunctions about lying ALL THE TIME, about EVERYTHING.
that's a pretty big disadvantage, especially when they do, they get reamed by the media, who are unable, or unwilling to cope with the nonstop fusillade of constant mendacity flowing from the republican propaganda mills

remember, instead, how she held up against the inquisition before the creeps on the Benghazi committee. that was far more germane

(26,355 posts)This was a super-mild case of walking pneumonia. She's already had about a week of rest, and the antibiotics have already gotten rid of 99% of the bug (though she has to take the full course to make sure it kills 100%).

If I just catch the news the next day - it will a 24 hour non stop Fawn over Trump Fest.
If I watch it - I don't have to watch them for 48 hours. I'm giving them an extra day to get it out of their system before they say Bengaaaazeeee.
Oh - and I believe they won't be asking Clinton about policy - it will be emails and benghazi. That's it.
In my dream world - she tells Lester to fuck off and 'ask me a real question'.
That's why she's running for President and I'm not - because I would blow it up with that response.

(11,833 posts)It's just stupid gossip. I suppose there's some substance out there somewhere on the tv 'news' like on bbc or pbs. I'd rather use my tv for watching movies & sports. And learn about substance from reading.
Hopefully Hillary will mention her plan for helping America's poor.
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/21/opinion/hillary-clinton-my-plan-for-helping-americas-poor.html
This is substance. This is what should be reported on and discussed. This is why I'd rather watch her speak & ignore all the idiotic 'commentary' designed to agitate people so much that they consider buying the products advertised to help 'calm them down.' Haha!
I've given up on tv for substance in covering elections. But it's easy to find by reading & talking with other intelligent people who actually care about things beyond yelling & screaming.

I'll still watch them, because I always do, but the fact of the matter is that Hillary will clean Dumb Donald's clock in all 3 and it will have ZERO impact on people's votes.
Dumb Donald will be declared the winner if he remains upright and refrains from dropping his pants and defecating on the stage. And then all the news outlets will go to their talking heads with pre-packaged comments, "I thought Donald did exceptionally well for a guy with no experience. Hillary was just too polished. It was really condescending the way she recited FACTS as her answers for every question. Donald SPOKE to us. He's dreamy."

(16,423 posts)He will start by lying. Lying a lot and lying big. Then, if Clinton doesn't push back right-away, he has successfully defined his version of "reality" as the new normal and all the other claims and arguments that follow will be measured against this distorted reality.
It's a basic negotiation-tactic: The first person to set a price already has an inbuilt advantage because everything that now happens considers this price as the baseline.

(1,353 posts)Hillary is a master debater and I feel she's found a new confidence since her illness... Her speeches are more personal, the delivery more conversational...and this is her time to shine.
I think she'll say often... "No, that is a proven lie..." And then proceed to talk about her policies...leave him in the dust and move on. It will be so hard for her not to roll her eyes and I'm sure her team is working on reactions that work. Would love her to say "Lester, I think I'd like to borrow an Al Gore sigh about now..."
She needs to build it with little cuts and jabs and then go for a knockout punch about that leaves him sweating, turning red and coming unglued...
I can dream...

And these so-called "independents" will, by a large majority, declare that they were impressed with Trump and that they're now going to vote for him. They will assert that Clinton failed to convince them that she's trustworthy, and they'll say that they have deep concerns about her honesty.
The networks, in turn, will focus exclusively on Clinton's perceived troubles and will wholly ignore Trump's zero-value debate performance, and they certainly won't call him out for any of his absolute bullshit.
He will thereafter be declared the winner of the debate regardless of his utter lack of substance or credibility, and the networks will identify the debate as the turning point when Trump proved himself a legitimate contender for the Whitehouse.
