Trump is scheduled to speak this afternoon in the Stranahan Theater, a venue that only holds a few hundred people. Seems like a small venue for a major party presidential candidate to hold an event in a mid-sized city.
One of the Toledo TV stations was giving a live report from the theater at 5 am today. The reporter talked to 3 rubes who came all the way from Cincinnati just to show that Trump has support from all parts of Ohio.
When the reporter interviewed the trio, one of them expressed how she's so star-struck by Trump because he signed his autograph on a picture she had before Trump was whisked away by secret servicemen.
When another one of the rubes was asked why she will vote for Trump, she said, " 'Cause he's gonna make America great again."
The evidence of 20-plus years of dumbing down this country via talk radio and Faux Snooze is strong as ever in Toledo, Ohio.

(50,986 posts)it does seem odd that the Trump campaign would go so small when the stakes are so big in Ohio.
Of course we could all go nuts in a hurry if we tried to think like the Trump campaign thinks.

(4,113 posts)If he really wanted to go for numbers, Trump could have tried the Huntington Center, where the Toledo Walleye hockey team plays. It's in downtown Toledo, like the Stranahan and holds several-thousand people. Or he could have tried for Savage Arena at the University of Toledo which could have accommodated around 8-10,000 for a political event.
My guess is, Toledo is a blue collar, labor union city that may be unfriendly to Trump. Toledo is the hometown of Democratic Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur. My guess is that Trump's campaign just arranged appearing in a small arena so they can look on TV like they have a big crowd, get in and get out quickly, and justify in their minds that they're mobilizing people in a Democratic stronghold area.
What they will get are the bumpkins like the three amigos from Cincinnati.

(4,113 posts)I wonder if he could have filled the Huntington Center or Savage Arena. He's performed in partially-filled arenas before.
