August 21, 2017 there will be an eclipse across the US Midwest.

What are your plans?

We are having a beach party in Michigan. Finger sandwiches and a shitton of gin.

I've seen 3 partials, 1979, 2012 and 2014. Also viewed the 2012 Venus Transit and 2016 Mercury transit.

This time I get to see a total eclipse.

As a side note, the last time there was a total solar eclipse in the lower 48 was February, 1979.

If you miss this totality of next year's eclipse, the next chance is April 2024.

Next Mercury transit is November 2019.

I think I'll have a pretty good seat at home. Hotels have already sold out in that area.
