Aphasia involves loss of spoken and written language. It generally means inability to produce or comprehend meaningful language. My dad had aphasia before he died and it was heartbreaking.

I saw him after a showing of 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' last summer. He was in good spirits but was obviously having some difficulty with the Q&A and some sketches with the audience. I had hoped he was just fatigued.

I wonder if he saw the bitter irony in a Welshman being deprived of language in such a brutal way (the Welsh, especially Northerners, love language).
