Walker compared the effects on the community to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He said residents were taken over by people from out of town with big guns for more than three months and nobody really knew what their intention was, creating a lot of fear within the community.
He said the militia was telling people what to do through force. After the occupation, Walker said there was a sense of shock and people were very uncertain about the future.
There were people walking in the streets, in the stores, everywhere you went with big guns on their sides, sometimes big rifles <and> sometimes big pistols on their hips, Walker said. You couldn't avoid them and nobody really knew what was going to happen ...
