http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/la-et-st-jane-pauley-cbs-sunday-morning-new-host-20160925-snap-story.htmlThe move was announced at the end of Osgoods final appearance as host of the program he took over 22 years ago. Pauley will be just the third anchor in the 37-year history of the program known for its soothing tone and literate storytelling. Osgood took over for Charles Kuralt, the programs first anchor, in 1994.
Osgood, 83, announced in August that he is retiring from CBS News after 50 years at the network, although he will still be heard on CBS Radio. The bow tie he wore on his last CBS Sunday Morning broadcast is being donated to the Smithsonians National Museum of American History.
For Pauley, 64, CBS Sunday Morning will be her first regular anchor role on a news program since she left NBCs Dateline in 2003. She spent a year as the host of her own syndicated talk show in 2004 and did mostly specials and occasional segments on NBCs Today in the 10 years that followed...

I can't stand Jane Pauley. Sorry. Her goofy, phony facial expressions during interviews and the sound of her voice nauseate me.
I liked Osgood though. I've always liked CBS Sunday morning's program. Well, at least I have a Roku box, so don't have to watch her intro.

(81,194 posts)I met Charles Osgood once - when he was featured speaker at a local news organization event. He was utterly charming. He had a new book out at the time and of course we all wanted signed copies!
He spoke at length about his career and little featurettes from the book. He talked about a cat he knew, named Shan, and the way the cat got its name - from the spoonerism "when the fit hits the shan." When he signed my book, he added - "Watch out for the fit!"

(35,015 posts)I grew up watching Sunday Morning with Charles Kuralt, then Charles Osgood - I love the show and it's been a staple in my life. Sundays just won't be the same.
