"Are you a 5-star rider?" Uber steps up and attempts to educate passengers

Are you a 5-star rider?

o Rate your driver based on your driver’s performance and quality of service. Drivers do not control the fare. If you have a question, reply to your receipt and we’ll be happy to review your fare!

o Promo didn’t work or you took a ride on surge? Let us know, and we’ll look into it. Don’t rate the driver poorly though. Poor ratings lead to a penalty or account termination of your driver.

o Has your driver arrived? Don’t make your driver wait too long. Remember, drivers’ time is valuable too and they are more than happy to help you as soon as they accept your request.

o Be respectful of your drivers. Despite the dubious city traffic, they work hard to give you a 5-star service to get you to where you want to go.

It sounds like this is in response to drivers being unhappy - very reasonably - that they are getting bad ratings for things that are not their doing, and that Uber knows that but still terminates or penalizes drivers for those bogus ratings. Simple solution: stop having your drivers rated, or stop basing penalties on stupid reviews.

But hey, it's Uber. We must love Uber, right? We don't know why we use Uber rather than our established taxi services other than it's NEW and ONLINE and COOL. Maybe next time, take a taxi rather than supporting a company that isn't anything special, and isn't good to the people who work for it.
