And if the autopsy shows that death could've been prevented those refusing aid should be charged and tried for manslaughter at least.

police officers be required to abstain from shooting people?

Should the majority of law enforcement officers, like those in at least 5 other countries, patrol unarmed?

If I were not headed to work, if I had time to monitor a thread, my second question would make a great OP for discussion, imo.

Never mind the moral implication of six or seven uniformed cops standing around with their thumbs up their asses while a civilian -- criminal or not -- bleeds to death on the asphalt.

authority of juries and judges. The spectacle of police sending in a robot with a bomb to kill a cornered sniper was very disturbing to me. They should be prepared to negotiate for days if necessary because they should not have the legal right to unilaterally decide to kill someone who is cornered and unable to kill anyone unless they show themselves. Not to mention the right to kill a mentally ill person because they don't obey police commands. The police can take shelter and get the public to safety, and then take their time unless they are being shot at.
