http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/house-gop-leader-i-think-the-earth-cooling-trendThe right-wing congresswoman wasnt kidding. Blackburn went on to argue that the planet is in a cooling trend. It has cooled for about the past 10 years. Reminded that nine of the hottest years in the history of the planet have been recorded in the past decade, the Tennessee lawmaker once again insisted, We have also seen the past 10 years a little bit of a cooling.
Remember, Blackburn isnt just some random conservative activist. Shes a frequent Sunday-show guest; she was rumored to be a contender for the GOPs vice presidential nomination; and shes the vice chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. In other words, her ignorance isnt just cringe-worthy; its arguably quite dangerous given her official responsibilities....
But by clinging to global cooling nonsense, what Blackburn actually said is vastly worse. The vice chair of the House Energy Committee looks at an intensifying climate crisis and concludes that reality is the exact opposite of what the evidence shows.
Um, no, Marsha, that's just the wind whistling through your ears.

I think she's a true believer, an actual fundie wackjob. She'll believe anything her pastor and the rest of the social conservative cabal tell her to believe.

(11,949 posts)But if she lived in Michigan would you have said 'This is one of those northern ladies that doesn't believe in evolution'?
Because there are plenty of ladies and men in the north that think the same way.
Now I admit the south may have more than it's share of cretins, hell my governor is Skeletor, but stupid knows no borders.
Well, maybe the border between Canada and we Americans. Because they seem to have a lot less stupid!
Have a nice evening.

(27,742 posts)But I've had the misfortune of listening to that sweet little southern accent and seeing that made up face hiss out the most horrible brown fetid bile for weeks. It's an embodiment of a stereotype that was unavoidable, that I have to believe she consciously promotes.
Sorry if I offended you, honestly.

Well, maybe a little...
Although I have inlaws in the Midwest that love winter. This southern boy cannot understand that. I wear a jacket if it is in the mid-60's.
