Trump Advisors: We Tried to Prepare Him For Debate, But He Got Bored

Not The Onion!

http://www.mediaite.com/print/trump-advisors-we-tried-to-prepare-him-for-debate-but-he-got-bored/

The New York Times reported Wednesday that multiple Donald Trump advisors say that they tried to prepare the Republican presidential candidate for the first debate Monday night, but Trump lost interest and just started chatting about other topics....

“There were early efforts to run a more standard form of general election debate-prep camp, led by Roger Ailes, the ousted Fox News chief, at Mr. Trump’s golf course in Bedminster, N.J,” they report. “But Mr. Trump found it hard to focus during those meetings, according to multiple people briefed on the process who requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.”

When Trump showed obvious disinterest, Ailes responded not by pushing Trump, but “by discussing his own problems, as well as recounting political war stories, according to two people present for the sessions.”

In the end, advisors believe the lack of preparation hurt Trump. They tell The Times that they gave Trump ready-made responses to many of the attacks made by Hillary Clinton and instructed him on how exploit her weaknesses, but Trump failed to use any of his debate prep.

They have careers and reputations to look after.
They don't want to come out of this as the folks
who sunk the Trump campaign. As losers.
They'd never work in DC again.

There's no "there" there.

A sign of a more serious underlying condition not uncommon with seniors like him.

And he wants to be president.

They have to know that he just won't read documents. He clearly has a short attention span - multiple examples including a long WaPo interview in which he turned several times to watch TV - but they have to know this by now.

What interests him?

I'd take him out on the golf course (let's assume there are no cameras around) and do the preparation there. Literally talk trash with him while he is at his most competitive and focused.

*not a debate prep expert or have training with different kinds of education applications
