are having difficulty dealing with the fact that he is being vetted, mostly by print and independent journalist. It is making it almost impossible for them to ignore all of the corruption and craziness they have continued to overlook. (19,370 posts)The Arizona Republic endorsed HRC and has received a lot of backlash about it, including threats of violence and subscription cancellations. Newspapers in general are a little more used to this sort of negative response than is television. My guess is that in the cutthroat ratings game the TV organizations are scared that they will lose viewership and advertising dollars by exposing Trump for what he is. They'll come around in the end though as they have to maintain some semblance of credibility. Let's just hope it's not too little, too late.

(19,370 posts)Trump has just ripped the veneer away and has given it a focal point. That a man such as him has risen to national prominence has allowed many in this country to be emboldened in their bigotry and hatred which is all based in fear of a changing society.
Perhaps the silver lining in this is that the election result that I believe will relegate him to the dustbin of history will also bring about some introspection by our citizens as to who we are and how we're going to conduct ourselves moving forward. There are a lot of knuckle draggers out there, but I believe there are more that do not want to be controlled by fear.
