A distasteful outhouse labelled Obamas presidential library raised eyebrows at the Montana GOP convention over the weekend.
According to The Missoulian, the wheeled outhouse was riddled with fake bullet holes and contained a fake birth certificate for Barack Obama, which was stamped bullshit. Graffiti on the outhouse read For a Good Time, and listed fake numbers in reference to first lady Michelle Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
Many so-called birthers believe there is persuasive evidence that Obama was not born in Kenya and created a fake birth certificate to become eligible to be President of the United States.
Montana Republican Party Chairman Will Deschamps told The Missoulian he did not know who brought the outhouse, which was parked outside the convention.

(35,392 posts)at least, when it's a Republican gathering.
If it were Bush43's "presidential library", it would be all over the "liberally-biased media" (being commented on by all those "oppressed conservative voices", those who have to take a number for the 10 seconds they can have because they have to fit every one of them in) as a prime example of "every liberal's wet dream" ...

This is at the GOP state convention -- an OFFICIAL party function. This has absolutely no place in the political arena or even in society. And to be endorsed by a statewide organization is incredible. This is not just a joke. I would be equally upset if the state Dem party pulled a similar stunt.
The question is, will Romney publicly denounce this in no uncertain terms?

(2,286 posts)This action had the SUPPORT of the state GOP party. You'll always find private people who are over the top, but for this to be at an official event is beyond disgraceful. It show absolutely no respect for the office of the president.

(1,076 posts)the skin of the competition. Someone is trying to make a political statement and they aren't very good at it. This is what happens when people try to exercise their right of free speech and don't really understand the concept. Extremely poor taste, as usual.

To tell you the truth, I am finding that going to America may be taking a very big risk. I am a Obama admirer. I also loved JFK...I can sense that the psychics may be right that Obama will not finish his term. The hatred, disrespect and ignorance are so rampant in the USA now...I think I will take my money and go elsewhere. I think I would rather put my money somewhere else where people are respectful and are smart.

(1,241 posts)Lots of them aren't ashamed of it either they will tell you they are racist. My neighbor for one, he has no problem with it, him and the guy who lived in the same house before him used to brag about it. Both very hateful people. But the one drank himself to death and the other one tried to but the cancer is getting him first. Both union and millionares by inheritence.

(32,723 posts)You mean: "believe there is persuasive evidence that Obama was born in Kenya"
The "not" in this context implies he was.
I hate typos like this.
I wonder how Hawaiians feel to have these birther idiots take away their first President?
Just think, if the media hadn't played along they could have been spending all this time having a tropical vacation in search of Obama's past but instead they ended up focusing on a city with winter winds that require long underwear.
Next time you're mad at the media, give a chuckle over how they brought it on themselves just to be able to use the "Chicago Style Politics" line.

(11,641 posts)outside of DU or even on DU. However, when the other party throws crap against the wall and act amazed when the shit sticks it's hard not to vent.
When ANY party stoops to the level of pandering to the racist intellect of their electorate through blatant propaganda that has proven to be lies this should be beyond the pale. For Republicans it has become the norm.
The claim that our president is not an American because his birth certificate is a fake has been proven to be completely nonfactual yet these politicians are willing to again and again make the claim without any retribution for knowingly promoting false information.
The Republicans under the leadership of "W" also blatantly lied about Saddam Hussein being tied to 9/11 to the point where most Americans at one point believed Saddam was complicit in a major terrorist attack on America. The Democrats did NOTHING to call out those who perpetrated the lies and no one was prosecuted for the lies that lead this country into a preemptive war that cost trillions of dollars in additions to thousands and thousands of lives of both American soldiers and completely innocent Iraqi civilians.
As far as I'm concerned the majority of the Republican leadership are lying thieving corporate war whores who keep getting away with deceiving the American people. And they get away with it because much of the Democratic leadership has been complicit through it's silence in allowing the fraudulent behavior to continue unchecked even as it lead us to war in Iraq.
Not sure that response was any better but I tried

(154,021 posts)What you are seeing s a highly polarized society. What you are seeing is a classic for cold civil wars. (tere more book learning') and some experience with well, actual refugees.
Again, not justifying this, but if Americans do not step away from that edge, and it's both sides, I promise the result will not be to your, or my for that matter, liking.
