Honest question

Folks,

I'm looking for serious advice.

Some of my family members are trying to push back on the new Trump tape release. Bill Clinton must have said worse things! And he sexually assaulted!

To which I've responded that (a) Bill Clinton isn't running for office, (b) he had consensual affairs (which was very wrong), but the sexual assault allegations haven't gone beyond the "allegation" stage, (c) he had the good sense not to say anything crude anywhere near a recording device, and (d) he was actually punished by being impeached.

The counterargument I've had less luck addressing is that Hillary Clinton, either by not ditching Bill Clinton or not trying to stick up for the putative victims, enabled the whole thing.

I've pointed out that Hillary Clinton has a long and robust track record of supporting women and women's rights, but what have the rest of you been saying on this point?

I'm really curious.

men, women and children. Now ask if they want that man for President.

Also point out that Trump (and his children) is PRO CHOICE and always has been. He had to learn the talking point about pro-life in the last few months for this election.

Also point out that Bill Clinton is not running and Hillary has no lawsuits against her for attempted rape or sexual discrimination.

are, if it were not for his history.

He has called women c*, whores, graded them on their fuckability, bleeding from wherever, pigs, cows, ugly, and so on.

His entire history is of degrading women. This is who he is.

As far as Hillary goes, name me 1 woman or man who defended the spouses other woman/man.

that might be true, but no proof. Or sound like they could be true, due to Bill's acts. But there's nothing to show Bill is a misogynist, given what he politically supports. He seems more like one of those who likes women so much he gives in to temptation.

In the 90s I read an article in the Nation or some such place where there was access of a tape of a phone call with Flowers or one of those. They commented that he did listen to her. Which might be better than someone who never cheated but never listens to women.

Blaming Hillary is outlandish. No excuse for that. The ultimately misogyny, holding the wife responsible for the husband's actions. Which is probably how Don the Con sees it. Ivana didn't do what he wanted so he was entitled to seek out comfort elsewhere.

I agree with the previous poster who said that there is nothing you can say that will change these people's minds. Misogyny means blaming everything on the woman. This way of thinking used to be much more prevalent: if a man raped a woman, the problem was that she had led him on; if a man abused his wife, the problem was that she had disobeyed him and driven him mad. While few people are that extreme today, many people still have a tendency to blame the woman whenever there is a problem. When someone hears Donald Trump's voice and words on that tape and, instead of feeling sick to their stomach, responds by blaming Hillary Clinton through some sort of tortured logic, they are intent on hating Clinton regardless of the facts. I doubt there is anything you can do that will make them see reason.

I'm very sorry that you have to put up with such misogynists.

Trump on tape admitted to people present that he grabs women at the crotch and tries to force himself on them because they will let him because he is a star!!!! ..that is the definition of sexual assault, he inappropriately touches women for his sexual pleasure. he once forced one into a bedroom and groped her telling her to "relax".

Trump now (thanks to the tape) is a confessed sexual predator. if he was anyone else, he would be in prison for rape, attempted rape etc...he should have to register as a sexual predator.

Should have made Bill ineligible for the presidency

When they inevitably say yes

Ask them the same about Trump
