Study Finds Media Overwhelmingly Repeat GOP "Job Killer" Allegations With No Verification

Media have overwhelmingly repeated claims by Republican politicians and corporations that government policies are "job killers" without citing any evidence for this claim according to a new study. And today's news reporting demonstrates the study's point.

Occidental College professor Peter Dreier and University of Northern Iowa professor Christopher Martin found media stories in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and the Associated Press with the phrase "job killer" have spiked since President Obama took office and that since 1984, "in 91.6% of the stories alleging that a government policy was or would be a 'job killer,' the media failed to cite any evidence for this claim or to quote an authoritative source with any evidence for this claim."

will happen, I have no idea, but it is obviously apparent the media in this country is only interested in $$$, and the citizens and country can go to hell. What a pathetic situation. Citizens are like caged robots fed a constant stream of lies and distortions.

Blow up your TV, quit watching this crap - I know, it's fun to get all worked up. But in the end, it support them and their advertisers. The pocket-book vote is the strongest vote there is.

The three original big networks were always part of big business, just like all the big city newspapers and national magazines. As such they run stories for the exclusive reason of making money. Journalistic integrity takes a back burner.

As Franken has alluded to many times. In order for the media to appear "balanced" they feel the need to report both sides of the political spectrum equally. It doesn't really matter if one side makes sense and the other is full of shit. The right has managed to transform public discourse and successfully attack the media with claims of "bias" if they run negative stories on wingnut claims. In that way they are able to attack the messenger without even having to address the message.

messenger without even having to address the message." The right has developed a tactic where nothing they say, the lies, half-truths and misinformation ever get addressed, because they deflect it with the same tired messaging that apparently plays well with the human mind.

I am concerned that all the BIG MONEY in this years political contests will really finally totally corrupt all media.

There will be a literal gold rush for all those billions of unchecked corrupted Citizen's United Gigabucks.

Anybody that operates any media anywhere will probably turn into instant millionaires.

It will be a gold rush of staggering proportions for media elites this year. A bloodbath massacre of lies and propaganda!
