(5,062 posts)He did this for one reason and that was to make a point. He is performing for all the Birthers out there who hate Obama. I wish someone in the media would have the balls and ask Romney what he thinks of this. We all know it will never happen but I can dream.

(30,058 posts)He should be investigating those cases, again very young children are suffering from a big dumb something he thinks is a sheriff. He has to go.

(1,076 posts)and I see Joe in action all the time, he is a real pain in the ass that's for sure but this is just part of the ongoing battle between Arpaio and the Arizona Republic. The story is skewed. What were they suppose to do with the little girl, just turn her loose. She needs to be held in some kind of custody until it can be determined where her parents are and if she can be safely returned to her family. She will be cared for by the state child protective services folks, she will be well cared for until some sort of determination can be made.

(7,290 posts)The change in enforcement won't apply to her, unless she's been here for 5 years.

(7,290 posts)She doesn't fall under the new policy. She doesn't have a high school diploma, GED and/or served in the military.

(1,076 posts)have people like Arpaio running around in positions of authority. He just keeps getting voted into office, I don't get it. That and our long history of fantastic governors.

(1,076 posts)people keep voting for him, mostly because of his showmanship I think. He promoted the tent city (Total hell hole in the summer) He pushed all kinds of programs to save the taxpayers money on prisoner housing. He brought back chain gangs, the list goes on. You have to remember that Arizona is still a repuke majority but the tide is turning. I don't think he will be around much longer.

(16,423 posts)So he arrests her fellow travellers.
Should he leave her in the desert?
Would he have had the legal right to remove that unidentified person from the scene WITHOUT formally arresting her? He's neither a relative nor a teacher of hers or some equivalent.
Could he turn her over to the ICE when she's not formally in custody?
