Suggestion....

...start going to local gun stores and start buying guns and loudly exclaim, "I'm taking advantage of the gun laws we currently have on the books because I'm scared that if Lurch the Fucking StiffTM wins in November he'll do exactly what he did in Massachusetts when he was governor: sign a ban on assault rifles."

Then watch the right wing patrons get real nervous.

I am a responsible gun owner, you walking wad of assclown.

Went shooting once in a national forest with a forest ranger friend (shooting .22's at tin cans), but it wasn't fun.

Went quail hunting once with a friend from the Army hospital that treated us for our war wounds. Didn't kill anything, but nearly got shot by other hunters who fired when a quail rose up between us.

If I ever were to live in a scary place where I might need a firearm, I might consider it. For now, I don't live in such a place. And after going to war, and being shot, I'm not a fan of guns and have no desire to own one. And I have only disgust for any organization that promotes the proliferation of firearms in our society.

I was trained to shoot by an uncle and in the military

but gun nuts? I find them paranoid and sick - extremely disturbing.

It was all about fathers and sons spending time together in pristine wilderness. The NRA was an environmentalist group that stood up against acid rain because it advocated preservation of game habitats for healthy herds. They used to work with local farmers to see to it fence lines didn't cut off migration routes for deer and elk.

Then it became a Right Wing ONLY group that was about spreading fear and the need to protect yourself. First in your own home and now they say danger is EVERYWHERE and you should have a powerful hand gun on you at all times.
