back in the early 70's, I was 5 years old - there was an elderly man who used to walk around the block every day in redwood city, ca - he was called the Peanut Man, not sure why, he would sit on the log outside our place - I used to talk to him when I was outside playing....one day he randomly stuffed his hands down my pants....I ran inside and told my dad - I never saw him again....
that was my first sexual assault
then there was my step brother....then there was the boss at my first job...and then the boss at my second job....both which I was 16....both who attempted to kiss me - one did grab at my genitals also....
None were punished (perhaps maybe the peanut man I dont know) - because I was scared, young and didn't understand things the way I do now....
so fuck you donald - you are a confessed sexual predator
LOCK HIM UP!

(4,238 posts)Can't remember my exact age, maybe 4th grade? There was this group of older boys that always sat in front so they could goose the girls as we were exiting. School bus driver (an older woman) never said a word. I think back now and still remain in shock how it was allowed to continue for so long. Anyway, one day as I was preparing to get off, I noticed all the guys were quiet up front and whispering to one another. Just as I made it near the steps, bracing for the inevitable slap or pinch of my behind, the asshole in the first seat grabbed me violently from the front. I was in tears. The bus driver rolled down her window to ask if I was ok, but I didn't say anything (fuck her.) I remember it stopped after that, but not immediately.
There were several other situations later on (a couple of family friends who couldn't keep their hands to themselves) but this is the one that was brought right back into my memory thanks to this election.

(4,238 posts)but this was a time when such behavior was just blown off as "boys being boys." And I'm not even that old (early 40s)!

(11,791 posts)I was flat as a pancake, but that's not the point. A boy grabbed me from behind and squeezed. I promptly turned around and slammed his head into a tree. I ran home and told my mom immediately.
Then my mom patiently explained to his mom why her son's head was bleeding all over the place.

I take the metro in many countries. I've never had to hit anyone, thankfully. But I also have a mess of tattoos and permanent bitch face, so...

(28,837 posts)That happened to me once in college. I didn't like it at all.
It seemed to be a big laugh to some guys.

(46,179 posts)To make it worse, when I tried to say something to my mother, he told her it was my fault because I'd been flirting with him (I hadn't...ew.) She believed him.

(309 posts)beginning with an older cousin when I was very young grabbing and rubbing while "wrestling", a stranger grabbed my butt at a baseball game, a neighbor boy swam under water to grab my crotch when I was 13, and on and on throughout my teens by "friends" of my brothers.
The saddest part is that I never told my Mom about the assaults as I was under the impression that it was somehow my fault.
If nothing else positive comes from Trump's campaign, at least his atrocious behavior and statements have given all of us an opportunity to have an open dialogue with our sons, daughters, etc.

(20,148 posts)Once when I was 5 or 6 (1962 or so). The teenage boy from next door got me to sit in his family's car and he put his hand down my panties. He told me not to tell anyone and I didn't.
The 2nd time was when I was 19 in my freshman year in college (1976). I was with friends at a crowded club. We were all standing, packed like sardines, trying to get to the restroom. Suddenly, there was a guys hand in my crotch. Outside my jeans, but still. It was only a couple of seconds, not long enough for me to figure out whose hand it was. Definitely a hit and run.

(18,705 posts)I left a book in my desk and had to go back to get it..
The teacher had a break for that hour.
The male teacher had his arm up a girl' s dress.
They didn't see me.
Another teacher was walking down the hall and i waved her over.
The teacher came over and saw what was happening.
The male teacher was arrested.
It turned out the female student was not the only one.

(60,332 posts)I would never think of touching a woman in an inappropriate way or unwelcomed way.
I am horrified that my wife and daughters are subjected to this. I don't even associate with men who would find this acceptable. I would call out anyone who I saw do it or who bragged about it.
Sorry ladies.

(5,737 posts)As a father to a daughter, grandfather to three granddaughters, husband, brother to three sisters, and son, I feel ashamed and pissed off at the same time too. For people to be making excuses for Trump's behavior is sickening. I played sports all through college. Yeah, in the locker room some guys will brag about their conquests (not sexual assaults), other might reference that they'd "like to get in the pants" of a certain female. But not the first one ever bragged about forcing themselves onto a female. Now I live in the business world. The same male to male banter does occur along the lines of what I described in the locker room. But again, nobody talks about sexual assault in the manner that Trump did and does.
