http://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/10/21/13358274/paul-ryan-bernie-sandersSpeaking at an event with College Republicans in Wisconsin earlier this week, Ryan warned that letting the Senate slip back into Democratic hands might give Vermonts democratic socialist one of the most powerful positions for shaping the federal budget.
If we lose the Senate, do you know who becomes chairman of the Senate budget committee?, Ryan said, according to the Nation. A guy named Bernie Sanders. Ever heard of him? Thats what were dealing with here if we lose control of the Senate.
Ryans hit on Sanders backfired, badly. Citing Ryans comments in a fundraising blast, Sanders was able to raise just under $2 million in two days for about a dozen Democratic Senate and House candidates furthering his chances of actually becoming budget committee chair.

(135,425 posts)Apparently Ryan is unaware that all appropriations begin in the HOUSE, not the Senate. The ways and means of spending the nation's purse is weighted towards frequently-elected representatives, not Senators.
What would Sanders DO? Hit the GOP senators with his new-found gavel?

(17,505 posts)They seem to think that because Hillary got the nomination, Sanders is hated, even in Democratic circles (one can see why).
But as usual, the GOP is wrong and projecting its own brand of petty politics onto everyone else (as usual)
Besides.... doesn't the House do the money thing?

(18,470 posts)...and go from there on to the Senate.
Hopefully we'll have a Democratic House counterpart for Sanders, courtesy Orange Fuckhead.

(81,103 posts)Clearly he has no clue how much of a motivation he just gave a lot of Millennials to come over and vote for Hillary and fellow Dems, ESPECIALLY in the Senate!
I'd thoroughly enjoy watching what Bernie Sanders would do as chairman of that committee!!! I'd want him chairing either that one or the Senate Banking Committee.

(45,806 posts)Having an honest, rational person in that position would be the best thing the best thing that could happen to the US in a very long time! Now, all we have to do is take control of the House and we can get to fixing all the problems the idiots have created over the years!

(4,344 posts)the sun don't shine, Ryan. And a really big shout out THANK YOU to Bernie Sanders. It would be fabulous to see Bernie as Budget Committee Chair. Geez, what if Hillary offered Bernie a cabinet post where he could make his mark?
You know, thinking about what has happened in the repuke party and then comparing that to democrats, we have some truly class acts in our party. Hillary lost in 2008, accepting the result with class and dignity. Barack offered the SoS and she accepted. Bernie is also that type of class act for graciously accepting the results of the primary. I hope we witness Hillary and Bernie working side by side to solve the tough issues facing our country today. Makes me very proud to be a democrat!!
Hahahaha!
