Raise your hand if you know someone

who will benefit from Obama's executive order on immigration!

Without even trying, I've got two hands up for two of the boys in my son's close circle of friends. They each are bright, talented, educated (through HS) and American in every way - except the one that matters.

Since graduation, I've watched these boys struggle and fall behind the others. They've each at one time or another talked to me a little about their status. Both with a deep, quiet, sadness. Both frustrated but seemingly resigned to their limitations.

One of the boys is sitting in my living room as I write. He's talking about getting his driver's license and a legal job!

Oh, and his smile? It's from ear to ear.

There are loads of Latino youth here in the San Francisco Bay Area. International Street has as many store names and signs in Spanish as it does in English.

These are just two of the Latino kids in my 3 children's circles of friends who will benefit. It makes me happy when I remember another and then another who will too. I've known these kids for years now, some before they entered Kindergarten, and it is good to see them get these opportunities that the rest of their friends were born with.

Can you believe that??

Representative Raul "Maddawg" Labrador went on tv today and said that he thinks the President of the United States may have broken the law by issuing this executive order.

Mister Teabagger himself, Raul is "one and done" in Congress.
He ain't gonna get re-elected by lying like that.

I am betting there will be many. I was speaking with a high school counselor and he told me we had already lost a couple this year.
I damn near cried when I heard it.
4 of the 5 kids we mentor are hispanic. I have no idea if they are citizens or not, we care about their school. But I am sure they have friends.

when hubby was active duty, so many shipmates were in uniform but were not citizens. If you are williing to wear the uniform and make an oath to protect this country, why should you be denied citizenship? One man, he joined the Navy, his family still lived in the Phillipines and it took him eight years to be granted citizenship so they could come to the US.

One got an award from a culinary college and plans to be a chef and the other is in college and plans to be in management.

When I moved here their daughter was a toddler and still needed to be carried and wore those pinafore dresses. Now she's driving and going on dates.

.....makes you feel old.....

has two friends who are both dreamers. I have known these two boys for so long it's like they are my other sons. I know their families, they are all really nice people. All of the boys are in college right now but my sons friends were worried about what was going to happen after they graduated, trying to find a job and so on. I talked to them after the President made his decision and they are both so happy, so are their families. Their dreams have come true.

The Head of the family is a superb licensed contractor.
He has taught his family members how to do magnificent work.

The Family is a TEAM and when I saw them yesterday they were jumping up and down with joy -- we were hugging each other and I was crying too.

It was a beautiful experience that I will never forget.

They/We kept saying, " Obama! Obama! Obama!
