I wonder if they didn't do this because they watched what happened to the Tribune recently when they shuttered the doors on the Pittsburgh addition? Since 1932, the Democrats have been in control of Allegheny County but the new influx of population, especially from the Oklahoma, Texas area we are starting to see many more Republicans moving into the area and thus they were afraid to cross that line.
The Oil and Gas industry has transformed the region and will continue to do so as more and more people come from Red states.
We just need to continue to keep hitting the ground and working the base to keep the numbers in our favor.
