McConell cleared the decks for this not to see the light of day. All one needs to know is,nothing ever came of the inquiry via the Dems into the Russian connection to Trump. Chaffetz and Company killed that off

Rep. Elijah Cummings, also on House Oversight Committee -- and, yes, as Dem he is in minority party -- thinks oversight is worth trying (tho not sure if he is pursuing this one topic). Reps Elijah Cummngs and John Lewis thought civil rights fights were worth it, too, just as they think the current House battles are worth it. Things in this nation aren't where they need to be, admittedly. But I don't want to think what this nation would be like (ie, how much worse) if they hadn't fought those seemingly impossible battles.

Besides, I don't want to look back and wonder what might have happened if we had tried.

In the meantime, if you have any ideas for pro-active steps that Dems can take to push back, at least, on the unethical and unconstitutional moves from trump camp OR to improve exercise of voting rights in future OR prevent vote tampering OR protect anyone's rights, let us know. Seriously.

I have tried to focus my recent posts on pro-active steps being taken by citizens as well as elected officials. If those steps are being taken by large numbers of people (perhaps with a push from an organization) -- as is the case with calls to the House Oversight Committee -- then I figure that increases chances of its makng a difference. So I post these pro-active steps.

Trying sure beats the finger-ponting and bickering that I saw for last few days on parts of DU and in the news coverage about Dems' internal family finger-pointing.

with each thing its own thread and no other subject posts so it could act as an ongoing director/reference.

How is that done here on DU? Would it be a forum to request of administrators? Or a group? Something a member could start?
