Depression can become a habit, which, in tern, can produce a neurological imprint. Are you with me? Gradually, our brain chemistry becomes conditioned to react to negative stimuli in a particular, predictable way. One thing'll go wrong and it'll automatically switch on its blender and mix us that black cocktail, the ol' doomsday daiquiri, and before we know it, we're soused to the gills from the inside out. Once depression has become electrochemically integrated, it can be extremely difficult to philosophically or psychologically override it; by then it's playing by physical rules, a whole different ball game.
My PTSD and OCD are kicking in fierce. This has got to stop. I now only watch FreeSpeechTv and Lawrence and sometimes Rachel when she isn't acting like a 12 year old kid thrilled with her cleverness. I have been writing alot.

(4,858 posts)and not having DU until today hasn't helped, either...:-/...my own PTSD and OCD have been on overdrive since the election. There is nothing good about the state of the country. Liberal democracy is in the gravest danger since the Axis powers were riding high, and this time, it's inside the gates. I wish I knew what to suggest. Just hang in there, a day at a time, a week at a time...and hope they destroy themselves by overreach.

Take a mega-break to find tiny joys previously hidden in your life and surroundings.
Build on them.
A wise counselor told me to find the healthy things and build upon them, rather than expend my energies on trying to combat the huge negativity.
It helped then, and I concentrate on that sage advice now.
I volunteer in public schools once a week to help young kids read.
I also walk shelter animals until they find their "forever" home.
Everyone is so different, so these small actions may not strike a chord with you.
