Kellyanne Conway, former campaign manager to President-elect Donald Trump, refused to say Sunday if Trump is turning away daily intelligence briefings, claiming that he is receiving information from a number of sources.
Last week, the Washington Post reported that Trump has only received two intelligence briefings in the two and a half weeks since his election. His predecessors typically received the briefings on a daily basis.
Snip:Traditionally, the State Department coordinates the president-elects contact with world leaders and provides briefings before he speaks to them.
Trumps eschewing of protocol is a concerning sign, given his utter lack of foreign policy knowledge and experience. His foreign policy proposals during the campaign included a secret plan to fight ISIS and an insistence that the U.S. should take the oil in Iraq.

(67,112 posts)I feel like I've had a stroke or something. How does a guy who talks a first grader with a head injury trying to sound out words get to become president? We went from great people and great speakers like Jefferson, Lincoln, FDR, JFK and Obama to this "great brain" dialogue? The Founding Fathers are turning over in their graves.

(67,112 posts)Trump has presidential qualities. It really makes one wonder what is next. The worldview must be losing respect for the US.

(148,874 posts)established protocols about these matters. None of those protocols are dictated by any laws, so he'll be able to pretty much do as he pleases with regard to security briefings, etc.
Just because things have been done a certain way for a long time does not mean that the way they have been done is required. Just one more way that Trump is a dangerous man to have as President.
A lot of people seem to think that established ways of doing things are the only way those things can be done. At the White House, that is simply not true at all. The President is in charge of the Executive Branch and can do things however he or she wants to do them. There are a few laws that require the President to behave in a certain way, but not many. The rest is up to the individual holding that office.
Danger lies in having no rules and a wackadoo as President.
