Ironic how we were told how the orange one loves fast food, though. Ha. And didn't he take Sarah Palin out for pizza?

I mean look at this

" Sea Trout
Dill Pureé, Olive Oil-Lemon Foam,Trout Roe and Horseradish"

"Sea Scallops
Caramelized Cauliflower, Caper-Raisin Emulsion ($8)"

Give me a break

Here's a good one-- all English...... until the last word...

" Black Sea Bass
Crusted with Nuts and Seeds, Sweet and Sour Jus"

I'll take Kyoto, Tokyo, Seoul, Chengdu, Shanghai and Guangzhou any day !

But, ANY high end western restaurant worth it's salt--get the pun?::&gt ) -- has Japanese and ESPECIALLY Chinese influences.

The Chinese, particularly the Szechuanese, are the greatest cooks in the world.. bar none... well.. add those is Guangdong as well.. but the Szechuanese... they just KNOW....

Nevertheless, sashimi and sushi ... still # 1

That's just my take.....

You just cannot beat the Japanese. They are far and away dominant as far as I'm concerned. So delicate and so rich in tastes and varieties. I like Szechuan too, but I'm probably not as well versed on their cuisine as you are.

Who is to say.. When I am eating good nigiri sushi in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Oshizushi in Osaka..... it is the best.. when eating Szechuan,, hopefully in Chengdu, but there are several great places in the San Gabriel Valley, and even NYC........it is the best....

I'll never forget the first time I had REAL, freshly grated wasabi.. in 1982 in Sabae.!!!

And if I had to make a choice for a last meal....ok..... .. Edomae sushi....omakase...

Ah, what wonderful choices to have to make....

Have you been to Szechuan?

so we do have some good Chinese in Flushing...and we have a great hot-pot place right near my office in the east village. I would love to explore more of China though for sure. Exploring is my cup of tea, but my wife likes very rigid itineraries - can be frustrating at times, but in the end she is probably right to plan carefully since the time is limited.

You pay one price and get a coursed out meal.

I ate there years ago. It's great. But very formal and stiff. better food in places like blanca, where you can wear jeans and hang in bushwick.

My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary there.

Oh, and Jean-Georges Vongerichten is a supporter of Democratic candidates.
