Al Franken for 2020!

Franken has two huge advantages over Hillary: he's able to connect with the common person, and he hasn't been the recipient of 30 years of hard-right love.

without the humor. Kinda boring, in fact. I see him doing his part in the Senate.

Completely frightening. 23 democratic seats in many red seats to 8 repug seats. I am completely scared. I think repugs gets filibuster proof in January 2019 unless we pick outstanding candidates like yesterday.

19. Can't tell if you're being serious or not (no sarcasm tag)

but, and I'm saying this respectfully as a Hillary voter both in the primary and GE, she is finished. 2016 was her second bite at the apple and she lost it. Although some of the circumstances were outside of her control, she sadly would likely not be considered to be a serious candidate in 4 years and I'm guessing that she is probably finished politically at this point due to her age and health. I am really disappointed that she lost because I thought that if any woman could have been the first elected POTUS, it would have been her. But there is a portion of this country that rabidly hates her and was overeager to embrace Don the Con against all reason, logic, and concern for their own well-being.

42. Cuomo has said he is not running. Newsom (there is not "e" at the end of his name) will either have

lost a bid to be governor of California, or won and become governor in 2019, the year the campaign for president begins.

Becerra would have been a great candidate, but he just agreed to become California's attorney general.

I don't think O'Malley is likely to run again after just losing so decisively in 2016. Although, to be clear, I liked O'Malley a lot and I think he would have made a good nominee and a good president. Then again, there certainly would have been a terrific fake scandal that the GOP made up against him.

Kamala Harris and Kirsten Gillibrand seem likely to run.

I am not sure why you left Elizabeth Warren off the list. I definitely think she will run and is probably the early front-runner.

Then again, Bernie Sanders might very well run again, even at his advanced age.

Other possible contenders are Sen. Amy Klobachar of Minnesota, Gov. John Hickenlooper of Colorado, former governor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, and HUD Secretary Julian Castro.

I think that Patrick won't run if Warren does. And I think that if Bernie Sanders doesn't run then maybe Tulsi Gabbard will.

44. Everyone says they are not running till they are

so i am not 100% about Cuomo. Becerra can leave AG position in 4 years.

Deval Patrick is def a consideration, as is Cory Booker, Julian Castro, Tom Perez.

Warren is too old. OR will be by then. I dont think she wants to either. IF sanders runs he will likely lose again.

Tulsi Gabbard would NEVER make it out of a democratic primary. NEVER. she is quite conservative and we only dont recognize that because she supported Bernie, but minute she herself is in the limelight, that candidacy is over.

45. I am not saying that I would vote for Tulsi Gabbard, only that she might run if

Bernie Sanders doesn't.

I wouldn't vote for Bernie, but it is possible that he will run again, even if he only plans on serving one term. We don't even know if Hillary had planned on running for a second term if she had won.

I disagree that Warren will be too old. I think she will run, and I think she is very likely to win the nomination and win the presidency.

In any event, she certainly deserves to be included on any list of potential candidates. She is the early front runner.

sorry, i thought you were encouraging her to run, not just predicting it.

There are many reasons beside age that i dont think Warren wants to do it.

But yes, you are totally right, they could well be in the running

47. What I meant about HRC is that if she had won the presidency she might not

have run for re-election. She might have been content to serve one term.

I cannot imagine that Hillary would ever run again after everything she has just been put through. She was a victim of McCarthyism.

I am convinced that Warren wants to run and that she will run. I guess we will have to wait and see.

And I was definitely not encouraging Tulsi Gabbard to run for president.

37. Oprah isn't a professional politician

After four years of this numbskull, people might realize why hiring a guy with no experience in elected office is a bad idea.

Here's the funny thing: A lot of people who voted for Trump are in position to hire people for their own businesses. Probably ninety percent of those people wouldn't hire someone without experience in the position they are hiring for, or at least experience in a similar one. What experience does Trump have? Let's see...he opened a lot of companies that hire minimum-wage workers by the bushel...he fired a bunch of people...he had a TV show...he ran a corrupt university...he bankrupted a lot of companies...he pissed off half the world...he really sucks at applying makeup...yeah, those are great qualifications for being the leader of the free world.

What does Trump have going for him? Aside from the obvious (many people in my area chose Trump because they thought he would erase the entire Obama legacy) it's entertaining to watch him, if you're into that kind of entertainment. The other candidates the Republicans ran, like Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina, weren't entertaining at all.

We need someone with two characteristics: good public policy skills and experience, and the ability to make people like him or her. Franken can do both.
