President Obama should hold a press conference on F&F. Agree or disagree ?

I think he should.

1. ONLY if Steve Leser is fully in charge of the interview. No Hannity or the other slime.

And if they sign a contract to NOT cut his words out, as they usually do. And take a lot of Secret Service, too, LOL.

You know Faux and the RW are going to make maximum political hay out of this and accuse President Obama of "hiding something". That's my rationale for the press conference.

6. President Obama is not "hiding something", Holder is.

I would suggest Holder holding a press conference but he would probably plead the fifth.

I just don't want the talking point "he's hiding something" to dominate the news cycles. I'm no political genius, so I'll defer to his judgment.

Yes the right wing will still whine.

But, the American people will know what is happening.

5. Why insist on coddling FOX?

Their entire stupid complaint is that guns 'walked' across the border ended up in the hands of some smugglers who used one to kill a border patrol agent. Of course, this flies in the face of their incredibly fucking stupid rant that 'guns don't kill people, people kill people'. LET THEM STEW.

Meanwhile, what's missing so much in the headlines is that that Russian ship carrying attack helicopters to Syria suddenly turned around after Obama met with Putin. And here we are, busy little bees, buzzing around FOX's vagina, titillating and stimulating.

"complaint is that guns were 'walked' across the border and ended up"

Their complaint is true, no need to spin. Why kill the messenger, we do want the truth don't we?

10. Yeah, well, that's not exactly news

Law enforcement has been using techniques like these for ages, tracing guns, dope, money, yachts, you name it. I've been watching FOX from the beginning on this, and their whole angle is that Holder is responsible for the border agent's death, which is completely ludicrous. They also could care less about Bush's gun walking program.

LET THEM STEW.

Iran Contra involved illegally bypassing Congress and illegally selling arms to a dictatorship for cash. Equating that to F&F is like equating Reagan to today's GOP.

Bonus points if they would haul Bush/Cheney in too. Yes, Wide Receiever was shut down asap but the fact it occurred is enough reason to drag every last one of them in.

8. I think he will have to, sooner or later. I believe that the use of Executive Privilege
Wed Jun 20, 2012, 02:00 PM
Jun 2012

was a mistake, if indeed the president had no knowledge of Fast & Furious. By claiming Executive Privilege, it seems to be a de facto admission that the White House itself was involved in F & F. Otherwise, there would be no reason to apply E.P., since it does not cover the Attorney General or the Justice Dept. At the very least, this raises the stakes dramatically, and will bring much more attention to the matter than it has gotten up to this point.

12. Sure, but he better be careful.

The President better be very careful how he chooses his words. Stating anything along the lines of asserting EP because it involves internal conversations would/could result in possible perjury charges.

It has been repeated ad nauseum over the past 11 months that the White House had no knowledge of this operation. If he is able to avoid possible controversy, it would be very smart to come out and speak on the issue, maybe even respond to some questions.

15. I don't come at this from a place of "reason"
Wed Jun 20, 2012, 02:26 PM
Jun 2012

I come at it from: If Darrell Issa wants it - it must not be worth much of anything.
Ditto Cant-Do, O.L., the Turtle Man, etc. etc. If they are for it - then I'm against it. Add in Sean Hannity thinking something is a good idea and it automatically become an insane concept to me.

And after Van Jones and Shirley Sherrod - None of that crew is to be trusted anymore. Especially Ms. Sherrod.
