(375 posts)Saying he is an accomplice is a serious charge, and that needs damn good proof. And in the end I am not sure it matters that much. He will damage this country and the world to further the Kremlin's interests, that is what we have good reason to expect.

(49,558 posts)But, here it is: He is a useful idiot savant. It's a term I came up with to describe the sell-outs in my community. A useful idiot savant is someone who is astute enough to know he's being used, or exploited; intellectually aware that he will profit by playing along; and devious enough to know that he can claim plausible deniability if the whole thing falls apart. In other words, he's a premeditated useful idiot.

(4,490 posts)I think Putin could be playing himself in this situation too though. Sure, Trump helps some short term goals of Putin, but Trump has also shown no loyalty to anyone, and he's going to be in charge of the most powerful military in the world. Putin is a moron too in a lot of ways.
