(29,704 posts)(this is on a PC) and find the line that says copy image address. Click and the paste into the body of your post. There may be different and better ways, but this is the one I know.

(15,800 posts)Then Windows upgraded, now that simple process doesn't work any more. Frustrating. Now I save the pic to my computer, then upload it to photobucket and take it from there.

(29,704 posts)That sounds like a lot of trouble!
Does photobucket say they own your pictures?

(28,339 posts)Let's say I want to post a photo of Donald Trump. I Google "orange pile of crap" and pick out a photo I like.
For the purposes of our post here, I picked one found at this link: https://www.google.com/search?q=orange+pile+of+crap&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiUlc_u2vLQAhVB2GMKHX5ZA88Q_AUICCgB
I clicked on the first photo of Trump, from a funny article in the Onion, but it was pretty big, so I clicked on "search by image" and selected "small." Search by image is located under the title of the file.
Finally, I right clicked on the image I wished to use and selected "copy image location"
I then came back to this page and did a right click > paste and VOILA! An orange pile of crap.
Note: you will not see the photo until you post your reply.

(38,311 posts)If you are not stealing somebody else's art, you may be stealing their server time.
"Fair Use" is another issue.
Some entities want you to right-click copy-image-address paste their art because they want it to go viral. Others will block that option by various means; little javascript tricks that make it difficult, or server tricks that will redirect to a "stolen from..." image if you try to embed their art or photography on another site.
Imgur doesn't seem to pay any attention to the copyright status of images. You don't need to set up an account either, last I looked. Photobucket will sometimes take an image down, or even refuse to upload it if they've previously taken down the image from other user's sites.
If I'm looking for some specific illustration I'll often go to Wikipedia. Those images are all supposedly free to use because they are in the public domain, have creative commons licenses, etc.. Better yet, Wikipedia let's you choose the size of the image.
Yep, I've used imgur occasionally here on DU because I don't want to host an image on my own sites, and maybe because I don't want to think about copyright status too much. But I always try to remember to include links back to the pages I found the image on if it's not obvious.
Okay, I know few people think about these things, and I really don't give a rat's ass if somebody embeds an image from a mega-corporations website, but I do try to be considerate of smaller artists.
Sometimes I'm amused by all the theft of art on the internet. When I was in college a friend of mine wrote some slash. I was there when she was writing it, editing it, and typing it up for distribution at a Star Trek convention. Yep, she was violating the Star Trek franchise; whatever. She also used a pseudonym. The funny thing is how this story started popping up on Usenet, and later the world wide web, with various other people claiming authorship.
I'd be irritated if anyone stole stuff I post on DU therefore I give it away. But I would appreciate attribution.
Sample photobucket posting:
Texas Oil Rig, before those annoying government safety regulations:
No hardhats or other safety gear, and it's bring your family to work day!
I found this photo in a thrift store.
