This would just criminalize politics. If justice were blind it might work. But in politics justice is not blind.

Would omission, obfuscating, deflecting count as lies? It's part of the game to duck questions and offer what are essentially dishonest responses. The lines are far too blurred to apply perjury outside of a court setting.
