Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region Forums7 Electors have tried switching their votes AWAY from Hillary. WTF?
So far 7 electors from Maine, Washington, Colorado and Minnesota have not voted for who their state elected. All 7 chose to not vote for ....Hillary Clinton. I'm not kidding. I don't think anyone saw THAT coming. This was in the Huffington Post. I looked through it 2x to see if anyone is switching away from Trump.
What else?

Who's next?
This is not courage. This is not making a statement.
This is bullshit. A cheap shot for 5 minutes of "fame" and keeping the Bernie flame out there.
Well, Bernie has flamed out, so if you think his ideas are so great, and many of them are, get your dead ass out there and push for them.

(47,209 posts)It's all a game for them with their half assed conspiracy theories and Wiki-worship. I think we now know that appealing to people's blind anger and greed is a fucking dumb move. Sanders could not walk these assholes back from the brink. Their free college and fatter pay checks mattered more than the basic civil rights of the Dem majority. Never again.

(58,785 posts)in most personality characteristics. They may--and do--switch allegiances between them, such as when some former tea-partiers moved directly to Sanders, but people from both groups understand each other and despise the mainstream. They do not become more moderate. Neocons were not liberals who shifted across the moderate range to the extreme right militarily. They were always radical left and moved far right militarily.
After watching the primary, it should be no surprise that rigid minds on the left still bear primary antipathy to the left's larger, more moderate, mainstream bloc--liberal Democrats. It's a big part of what they are.
So, they are NOT us, and never were. And let's never forget to remember that something is very right with the nearly 66 MILLION Americans who voted for what Hillary planned for our country.

(71 posts)The guys in washington sc all voted for collin powell in a desperate hope that trump would not get the 270 and the house was to choose between the 3 candidates with most votes. I assume they hoped collin powell was an accetable choice for the house

(6,028 posts)If Washington Democratic Party Electors throw Powell's name into the mix, it might encourage some of the moderate, 'never Trump' Republican Electors in red states to do the same. If enough of them did that, it would force the House to choose between Trump, Clinton and Powell.
I honestly don't know how a vote like that would come out, because each State would have to decide on only ONE VOTE.
However, it might have been a futile gesture, since it looks like all the Republicans are voting like good little zombies, along Party lines. And all this may end up doing is giving Trump some more fodder for gloating tweets.

Looking at this map,
https://www.facingsouth.org/2016/11/great-southern-gerrymander-continues-2016
it would have been around 12 to 38 (I have no idea if DC gets a vote).

(13,390 posts)If we advocate that they not vote for our opponent, do we really have room to complain when some of our own defect?
It would set a very bad precedent for the electoral college to overturn the results by not voting or voting for someone else.

(765 posts)This is why the Democrats have to tread carefully while the GOP moves in lockstep. They have to constantly watch their left flank, which will bolt the minute they're required to face reality or be pragmatic.
